RVT Site Visit: May 10-11th The AVMA CVTEA committee is looking for local volunteer veterinarians to perform an accreditation site visit at Carrington College's RVT program in San Jose all day on May 10th and 11th. While this is not a direct networking event, this is an opportunity to get to see how our local RVT program functions (and get your name and face out in front of our local RVT students). Read more details here, and sign up before March 15th here. |

Summer Work Experience for Vet Students: sign up by Feb 15th The Summer Work Experience Program (SWEP) connects second- and third-year veterinary students from UC Davis and WesternU with practices for summer employment, helping them gain valuable work experience and reduce student debt. The program also allows practitioners to help educate future colleagues and discover potential candidates for hire. These student can legally perform RVT tasks, so having a summer relief technician is an added bonus. Sign up to be on the list of clinics offering SWEP by February 15th here. |

Virtual Veterinary Career Expo! It's a brave new world out there, and veterinary students are changing the way they network and look for jobs. CareerEco and the AAVMC hosts virtual career expos for veterinary students, and it is a fantastic way to network with vet students around the country that may be looking to move into our area after graduation. The next fair is February 18th, and there is still a little time to sign up as a seeking organization! |

Name Tag Requirement Being Enforced This isn't related to hiring, but still a good tidbit of info to know. As of January 1st, the California VMB will start enforcing AB 1535. ALL veterinary staff except DVMs (including receptionists, managers, and kennel attendants) are required to wear a name tag when interacting with the public or in an area where members of the public have access to. This name tag must be at least 18-point font and have the license (RVTs) or permit number (Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit) of the person, if applicable. |
