Everything you need to know about what to wear for a Horse Show

  • Show Jods, Shirt, Vest and Tie as well as Black Gloves – you can borrow a whole outfit from the Miller Barn room. Talk to your trainer so they can help you find something that fits. Be sure to have it dry cleaned and returned within a week of the show – thank you!
  • Helmet – Helmets are required for Academy classes. if you want to dress up your daily riding helmet, you can purchase a black lycra/spandex helmet cover to make your everyday helmet look nice for the show. They cost about $10 and can be purchased online at horseloverz.com (shown in pix above)
  • Paddock Boots – You can wear your daily paddock boots, but please be sure that they are clean and polished before you arrive. KIWI shoe polish works great.
  • Hair – Hair buns are required, so be sure to come early to get your hair done by one of our amazing teammates. You will need to bring your own hair brush, hair spray, pony tail holder, bobby pins and hair net (to match your child’s hair color).
  • Make-up – Make-up is a necessity for horse shows as your rider is vying for the judges attention. We suggest you have foundation, powder, blush, eye shadow, eye liner and mascara as well as lip liner and lip stick. Also, make-up should not be shared, so please bring your own. If possible, parents should do their child’s makeup, but if you need help, please come early and get some assistance.
  • Bling – While totally NOT necessary, it is fun to add some bling to your rider for the show. You can purchase a collar bar, magnets and hair bows to show your rider off with style. Bella Equestrian on ETSY.com has some super cute stuff for affordable prices.

If you don’t have something, don’t stress as many of the barn moms have extras…
