The Nashville Catholic Business Women's League elects officers for two-year terms and 2019 brings the election of a new board of officers for the 70-year-old league. The entire membership is eligible to vote for the officers, which will take place at our March 20 meeting. In addition, there will be two amendments to the by-laws up for a vote.

The officers up for election are:

Three proposed changes to the by-laws Article VIII are as follows:

Section 1 amend the article that currently states, "The annual membership meeting shall be the regular April meeting," to state, "The annual membership meeting shall be the regular April meeting or if no regular meeting is held in April the annual membership meeting shall be the next regular meeting held after the March meeting."
  2. Section 2 amend the article that currently states, "Officers shall be elected in odd number years at the March monthly meeting and installed at the annual membership meeting in April," to remove the words "in April" at the end of the statement.
  3. Section 6 amend the article that currently states, "The newly elected officers shall assume their duties at the installation at the April annual meeting. Committee Chair appointments shall be announced by the incoming President at the April meeting" to remove all references to the word April.

Teri Gordon has prepared a list of committee chairs she will propose to the membership upon taking office. Those committee chairs are as follows:

Business Expo set for April; help spread the word

The Business Networking Expo will be April 17 at the Fleming Center at the Cathedral. Registration information is available on our website. Please help us spread the word to any female business owners or professionals who you think would be great exhibitors. We welcome both members and non-members to join us at the show as an exhibitor or a guest. If you are not planning to be an exhibitor, please make plans to join us for the event and invite your family and friends to join as well. Not only will this be a great opportunity to learn about businesses owned and operated by women in Nashville but we will also have give-aways, appetizers and wine.

NCBWL supports the Habitat for Humanity Women Build

In order to increase our community involvement, the NCBWL has volunteered to be the hospitality coordinator for one of the build days for the Habitat Women Build on May 18. As the hospitality coordinator, we are responsible for all of the food for the day and people to organize the food distribution. We are looking for a lunch sponsor who would be interested in supplying lunch for the 25 volunteers who will be working on the build site that day. We will be collecting donations of individually packaged snack items and monetary donations at our March meeting. If you are interested in helping as a build volunteer or hospitality coordinator for the day or have a possible lunch sponsor, please email Lisa at lisalink14@gmail.com.

Our three scholarship recipients and leaders from St. Cecilia Academy, Father Ryan High School and Pope John Paul II High School joined us at our February meeting. Each of the girls spoke about her experiences at school and expressed gratitude for their scholarships.
