A Little More SOUL

Part Of The SOULution Newsletter

Dear Beautiful Souls,

I'm so pleased to be sharing my first newsletter with you! (Can you believe it?!? Wahoo!!!)

We are about to embark on an incredible journey together. This is just the beginning. It took a lot of guts, faith and courage for me to get to this moment. In fact, it's been something I've been dreaming up for years! I had to overcome a lot of fear, self-doubt and imposter syndrome tendencies to get to this place, so today is a true celebration!

Here's my dedication to you, my fellow reader and confidant. I want to be able to unabashedly tell, share and offer stories to you. Some of these tales will be based in truth and relate to my own life and experiences, while others will be figments, completely made up and over the top. Some of the inspiration may even come from you. (I'll explain more about that in a later edition of, A Little More SOUL) Whatever is offered, I promise you that it will come from me in the most authentic way I know how and that through this journey we will grow together. I, as a writer and storyteller, and you, as my co-conspirator and witness. I thank you in advance for your trust, patience, kindness and stalwart presence.

There is going to be a lot to learn and I'm sure there will be some hiccups along the way. Feel free to accompany me and stay along for this ride as long as you'd like, or to disembark as and when you feel called to do so. There will be no judgements from me. You're also welcome to share and invite others to join us but please keep in mind that this community is sacred and special and should only be entrusted to those who are truly ready to be vulnerable, to be truthful, kind-hearted, and open-minded. If you are here, it means that I trust and value our relationship, and that we have shared something special and precious together. We are warriors for change, you and I, so the messages and the community here is held in a sacred bond we share with one another. Together, we can be Part Of The SOULution, making this world a better place.

Thank you dear ones for entrusting me! I look forward to our adventures together!

For several years now, I've secretly held a wish of wanting to become a real writer. Not just for my career, writing copy for various brands, but as a true creative outlet. I want my writing to be a place where I can share the deepest parts of me, and now that dream is starting to come true...

In this post I share a lot of the feelings, emotions and thoughts that start to arise when one embarks on something new. Perhaps this may inspire you to take the leap on your own adventure into something new and creative?

SOULful Sunday Sangha

Save the date - Sunday, February 24th at 10am PST, online. (Login details will be sent upon registration)

During my Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Certification, I became very inspired by a book called, Awakening Together, written by meditation teacher, Larry Yang. Much of what I will reference below is from his wonderful book.

As many of you know, February is Black History Month, and I could not think of a more appropriate time to bring together a collective group to honor and share in the practices once spoken of, by Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. King was quoted as saying, “All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be.”

This quote is also mentioned by Jan Willis in the Foreword to Awakening Together, and she goes on to say, “We do not exist in isolation — and neither does our enlightenment. Our personal liberation is tied up with our collective liberation; we cannot be fully liberated alone.”

Another contributor to the Foreword, Sylvia Boorstein says, “I heard years ago that Thich Nhat Hanh said, “The next Buddha will be the sangha.” At the time, I thought perhaps that was a tribute that meant the greatness of the Buddha was such that only a group of people could measure up to his value. Now I think it quite literally means that we can learn from everyone and everything, that the teacher is the world around us waiting to be seen and deeply understood. We learn from each other, in relationship, the pain of being inevitably separated from what we love by old age, sickness, and death — and we come to know that we share this vulnerability with all human beings. Feeling at ease, in a community in which we experience the comfort of feeling seen, we discover our natural ability to feel empathy for others through the sharing of our individual challenges.”

With all of this in mind, I have felt a deep call to begin to gather together a sangha (a community) of likeminded individuals who may be interested in coming together online once a month to sit in meditation practice together and to share the daily ups and downs of our lives, in the hopes of bringing solace and comfort to one another.

The Inspiring You Show - Podcast

I’m so excited to share that I was interviewed in a recent podcast episode, by one of my dear friends, Henri Hébert of The Inspiring You Show. If you’re interested in hearing my backstory and how I was guided to teaching yoga and meditation, you’ll learn all about it here.

I could not be more proud to be a part of this episode. It was an amazing and vulnerable experience. This was a big jumping into the deep end and stepping out of my comfort zone moment for me. Tremendous thanks to Henri for her friendship, support and encouragement.

When Life Gives You Lemons...🍋

Say thank you! 🙏🥰 I had two lessons show up for me last week. Maybe you can relate to this as well?

  1. When you ask the universe for something, be specific and align yourself with gratitude, because it will be provided if in alignment for your highest good. (Earlier this week I was looking 👀 for free lemons in my neighborhood but didn’t see any “feel free to take” signs out, so I simply kept looking and waiting, knowing that at some point they would become available.

  2. When you start to clear space (de-cluttering and cleaning) this karmic-ly allows for something new to show up in its place. (I started a big deep clean of my home). That same day, as I stepped outside to water my plants with water that had been sitting beside the sink in a glass waiting to be washed, my neighbor from across the street showed up with a bag full of lemons! 🍋🍋🍋
