Meet Our New Faculty Member
Mrs. Lana Smith is an active piano teacher, soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist, having taught and performed locally in the Tri-state area as well as in Russia and Europe. She has received various prizes and scholarships, including International Piano Competition in Warsaw, International Chamber Music Competition in Prague, and European Summer Academy in Salzburg.
She loves to teach and spread her knowledge of music to all of her students. Her warm and patient teaching approach is particularly suitable for beginners, but her exceptional performance background and artistry gives her the ability to confidently teach and prepare students at the most advanced levels.
Mrs. Smith Obtained her Master's degree from the University of Oregon and graduated with honors from the Belarusian State Conservatory and the Gnessin State Musical College (Moscow, Russia). She proudly represents the Russian piano teaching tradition that lays down the foundations for a relaxed way of playing, which gives confidence and technical security, while enabling one to produce a beautiful "singing" tone on the piano. In addition to teaching piano at Piano Players, she is currently teaching classes at the University of Cincinnati.
Mrs. Smith joins our faculty team to teach private piano lessons and is now scheduling students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
