Rejoice as summer should...chase away sorrows by living - Melissa Marr
This month's quote is lovely and positive, but the quote I actually wanted to put there (but it was too long) is this: "Let a man walk ten miles steadily on a hot summer's day along a dusty English road, and he will soon discover why beer was invented." - Gilbert K Chesterton. This is closer to my actual experience of July. I grew up in the English countryside and on the rare hot summer days, this quote is accurate. Now in Colorado, I spend most of my day in July hiding from the sun. Earlier this week I spent a whole day outside on a video shoot and by 5:30pm my brain really wasn't working any more. On that note, here are a few things to give you food for thought and keep that brain working on these hot summer days!

The wildflowers in the mountains of Colorado are just incredible. They are fleeting and beautiful and brave. They start to grow once the last snow is gone in June and don't last very long. This is one of my favorite times of year for hiking because the high mountain meadows are coated in wildflowers. If you can get out to the mountains and see the last flowers before their season ends, I highly recommend it.
