President's Message

Chelan-Douglas School Retirees Association has held our last two meetings via ZOOM. We were fortunate to have 2 outstanding programs. Thank you, Jill Fineis from Pinnacle Charter Schools and Mike Battis from Ballard Ambulance.

We were hoping to attract ‘active’ teachers to our programs. That has not happened. We realize teachers have so much going on:  a steep learning curve, adjustments, your students, and your own ZOOM adventures.

The CDSRA Board has decided to not have a program in December. We will have a board meeting only. Any member is welcome to see what happens during a board meeting.  They are not closed.  Our next board meeting will be December 14th at 2pm via ZOOM, but no program. No meeting will take place in January. Wouldn’t it be great to meet in person once again in February!  Time will tell.

In the meantime, have a safe and healthy holiday. Take the time to reach out to someone with a phone call or note. It’s that time of year.

Kriss Crilly – CDSRA President

You now have the choice of the following plans:

  • Uniform Medical Plan (UMP) Classic
  • United Healthcare PEBB Balance
  • United Healthcare PEBB Complete

If you decide to change, go to hca.wa.gov/pebb or call the HCA Hotline at 1-855-873-3268

Next Suggestion:

List all your medications and potential procedures for the upcoming year - (don't forget hearing aids)

  • Go to hca.wa.gov/pebb
  • Scroll down to section "How do I..." and click "Compare medical plans"
  • Check the plans you want to compare
  • Check to make sure the things you need are covered
  • You can also click on "Only show benefits that are different" (Below "Compare the plans you choose")

Botton Line Information:

  • If you choose to do nothing, your plan WILL NOT CHANGE.
  • You are currently receiving $183 subsidy for insurance from the state. If that goes away, your insurance cost will go up in 2021.
  • You can wait and choose one of these plans next year.
  • If you change and are unhappy with your new plan, you can go back to your original plan next year.
  • If you plan to change, make sure your provider accepts the new plan.

Are you looking for a chance to "pay it forward"?

The Holiday Season will be very different for many people in our world. Many families and friends will not be able to gather and celebrate together. Many of these people will be some of our own members. Would you be willing to  “connect” with members that need some friendly support by phone, mail, or email and help them know that others are thinking about them?

If you would like to be part of this “CONNECTIONS” project, please contact one of the members listed below. You can volunteer to be a “Connector”.  If you know someone that needs a “Connection” or if you would like to be connected with, call us with connection information. Let’s make this a Happy Holiday for as many as possible!
