RECOMMENDED BOOKS & PODCAST

I never make recommendations I have not personally read or seen

"The Alzheimer's Prevention Food Guide" has researched a variety of foods that will help protect our brain from dementia.  Excellent information!

Jojo Moyes always gives our brain a break with a great read.

Oversaturation in our caregiving jobs does not do anyone any good.  As impossible as it is to unplug, it is what we need to if we want to be of help to our loved ones, and not be bat-schit crazy ourselves.

Brene Brown's Podcast invites

David Kessler to discuss

Grief and Finding Meaning.

A perfect listen for caregivers.

PERSONAL NOTE

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRAM!

"Gram." Mom's Mom.  Lillian Jackson Costa.  Her favorite flowers were lilies and the sweet peas at the cabin.

*This photo is of Gram and Mom at Aunt Lee's graduation, 1954. Get a load of the camera equipment they are sporting and the hand gloves~

*Me , Gram and Sue, 1977.

*My grandfather, "Pa," Victor Andrew Costa, or "Vic," is on the left with his buddies in Tahoe on a jeep trip in the late 60's.

*Dad, Pa and Papa John (Dad's Dad) on cabin porch 1967

This was Gram and Pa's favorite prayer.  Truth be told, it took me years to fully grasp its words.  Now I think it is one of the most beautiful contemplations there is and I say it every day.

Prayer of St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace

Where there is hatred, let there be love

Where there is injury, pardon

Where there is doubt, faith

Where there is despair, hope

Where there is darkness, light

And where there is sadness, joy

Oh, Divine Master, grant that I may not

So much seek to be consoled as to console

To be understood as to understand

To be loved as to love

For it is in the giving that we receive

It is in the pardoning that we are pardoned

And it is in the dying that we are born

To eternal life,  Amen.

Be kind in these times. Be safe. Be patient. Be one of the good guys.
