Local Author/Holiday Stocking Stuffer One of our long standing members has penned a book entitled “Drifting in the Wake, The Unusual and Remarkable Life of Orville Wright Jr”. This is Orville’s 2nd book, and to quote the author “Many tennis players have a life beyond tennis. I am no exception which my recent memoirs”. Orville has led an extremely interesting life and is the only tennis player I know whose rating got bumped up (3.5-4.0) at the age of 70! Having read the book, instead of attaching his official testimonial I offer my take, just buy the book. Cost is $20 and all profits from the book will be donated to the Tabor Children’s Services. The book is on sale at BTC from now through the holiday season. |

Thanksgiving Day In keeping with our family tradition, I will open our doors Thanksgiving Day Nov 28 from 9am-1pm. A 30+year tradition, it is always nice to see families and familiar faces from the past back in town at BTC. Playing tennis on turkey day is a great way to reacquaint, see who has game and who’s rusty, work up an appetite and get out of the kitchen! |

Mixed Doubles Parties Our inaugural Mixed Party proved popular with 8 combo teams playing this past Saturday. A wider variety of level did not deter anyone form having a great time. Perhaps we are rekindling a past tradition? You do not have to play with your spouse, and if you sign up solo we will do our best to partner you up. We have scheduled additional mixed gatherings on the following dates: December 7 & 14 |

USTA The 2020 USTA season is right around the corner. Thanks to the efforts of regional coordinator Lynn Buffamonti, and local USTA ambassadors Jason Spencer, Sandra Starke & Dave Reed we grew our league participation last year, breaking a downwards trend. Mixed Doubles will start in January in 6.0.,7.0 & 8.0 level. We are seeing some new faces in our Mixed Doubles Parties and would be nice to see these transition over. Here’s a thought: New Years resolution: Play mixed with my spouse! Sign me up! Our local ambassadors will be reaching out to members during this holiday season. |
