December 2023 Newsletter

Welcome again to Streetsboro News! This first newsletter is coming to you on Christmas Day! We want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year.

In November of 2023, Streetsboro News was formed with the goal to become Streetsboro's local source for news, information and headlines. Since the beginning, we have been trying our hand at a few different ideas. One of those ideas is the "Meet Streetsboro" series. This was a series created by the newspaper that used to cover Streetsboro. We have covered a few local leaders such as, City Council Members Lisa McDaniel, Anthony Lombardo and Marianne Glenn. As well as Board of Education members Sara Scott and Tonia Epple. We've also covered local sports and events, such as the Holiday Lighting Ceremony, Shop with a Cop, swearing in ceremonies, we hosted the 4th Annual Holiday Lighting Contest and many more.

In 2024, we hope to become a reliable source of news, information and headlines for the Streetsboro community. But we cannot do that without you. We ask that you please share our site with your friends and families. In just over a month, we have gained 500 newsletter subscribers, 850+ followers on Facebook and many more followers on other social media platforms, such as X (Twitter) and Instagram. We sincerely appreciate your support so far!

We're also open to ideas the community has for stories. If you have any ideas, please share them with us here, or by visiting the "contact us" section on our website.

Thank you again for being a supporter from the beginning. Below is our December 2023 newsletter. This will highlight some of the top stories throughout the past month. Enjoy!

One of the Warmest Christmas Day's on Record

According to the National Weather Service, today is one of the warmest Christmas Day temperatures in history. The record temperature was set in 1982 when temps reached 64 degrees. Other high Christmas Day temps include 62 in 1932, 59 in 1964 and 58 in 2021.

Like the picture, many are probably wishing we were on a beach today. But with the nice temps, it's a great day to enjoy a nice walk around the neighborhood.

Sports Teams off to Hot Start

We used the girls' basketball team as the cover photo because they are off to a 7-0 start! Behind their start, the boys' basketball team is almost .500 at 3-4, but they have secured big wins over teams like Hudson and Norton. The wrestling team, under new head coach Mark Skonieczny, have also started strong, recently finishing 2nd at the Hudson Holiday Classic.
