Once upon a time there was a work-a-holic. She had a ton to do and loved being busy.

Did I mention there was a ton to do?

Then the 👹 burnout monster came to the work-a-holic's house and knocked politely.

"Can I come in?" they asked.

The work-a-holic couldn't hear because she finds it's best to wear noise-cancelling headphones when at her desk (which is where she most always is).

Then the 👹 burnout monster BREATHED FIRE AND BROKE THE DOOR and said less politely: "YOU NEED TO LEARN TO CROCHET! NO. MORE. DRAWING." The End.

On an unrelated note, I've learned to crochet and I've made a couple of scarves! This is the one (also unrelatedly) I call my stress scarf. 🥲

Lucky you, newsletter getter! It's a BIG, BOLD, BEAUTIFUL coloring sheet!

I want to color!
See the Big, Bold, Beautiful Me book!

The last pass through a children's book... Final touches, sneaky frogs, treasure map doodles...

I'm finishing up the last little bit of Potatoes for Pirate Pearl, written by Jennifer Concepcion and published by Feeding Minds Press. This book is hilarious, educational, colorful, AND there's a parrot named Petunia.

There were a few final edits throughout the book, but also I just like going through and adding little things for readers to notice. Time consuming but worth it!!

Goodbye, Potatoes for Pirate Pearl!

I'll see you again when you hit shelves this September!

Preorder Pirate Pearl!

Meet Sophia, a capable young girl. Sophia constructs a unique, targeted argument for each member of the household as to why she neeeeeds a pet giraffe. (which is tough, her mom is a judge!)

I don't like books that talk down to children. This book does the opposite. 🙌

At every turn Sophia is spoken to with respect, like a peer. Then she's back on the next page, with another thoughtful presentation.

There's even a glossary at the end of the book for the larger words used!!

(I'm so tired of people saying "you can't use [insert large word here] with children, they won't get it." Aren't children's brains uniquely wired to learn language??! Why do we constantly underestimate young people??.... Okay rant over.)

Plus, check out these endpapers???

The loose linework and shape-y watercolor style of this book exactly matches and amplifies the silly tone of this witty story.

Sophia has a series of 3?? Mmkay, I'm going to the bookstore.
