Gratitude for the slp

This month we are chatting all about gratitude. Harvard Medical School describes gratitude as

"...a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether tangible or intangible. With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives. In the process, people usually recognize that the source of that goodness lies at least partially outside themselves. As a result, being grateful also helps people connect to something larger than themselves as individuals — whether to other people, nature, or a higher power."

It's the connecting to something larger than ourselves that speaks volumes and adds meaning to our experiences.

Coffeehouse SLP Thought for the Month

As an SLP, I've always enjoyed the times I get to connect with my patients, students, adult participants and clients. We have so many things to do daily, but the moments that really matter and make your day worthwhile are the times you are able to make REAL connections with those you provide services to. I've observed firsthand the impact that forming connections can have on the overall therapeutic process and I'm a believer!

"I'm so thankful I have a career that allows me to make connections far beyond the goals that are written on paper."
