The Northern states of India are filled with ancient palaces, and a riot of colour everywhere you look. Travelling through this beautiful part of the world took me through a constantly changing landscape of mountains, deserts and rivers, and completely stole my heart. It was an incredible experience travelling through this part of the world and took me to places where I experienced breathtaking beauty, rich tradition and fantastic hospitality. You can fin more of my travel work on my website here, where also sell fine art prints. |

Pushkar One of the oldest cities in India, arriving in the small desert town of Pushkar is like stepping into another world. Surrounded by rose fields and bordered by the 'Nag Pahar' or Snake Mountains, Hindu legend says that Lord Brahma (believed to be the creator of the Universe) dropped a lotus to the ground here creating the lake. Cows roam freely through the streets and monkeys gather to beg for (or steal!) food, and as the light drops, people gather on the banks of the lake to watch the sun set over the water. |

Varanasi In the Northern state of Utar Pradesh, the Holy city of Varanasi is like no where else I've ever been. The whole of life (and death) happens daily on the banks of the sacred river Ganges, which flows through the city. Sadhus pray next to people washing their clothes, and pilgrims bathe in the water near the funeral pyres. The evening Ganga Aarti ceremonies held on the river banks are one of the most incredible things I've seen - it felt like stepping back in time, with burning lamps in the darkness and thousands of people gathered for the daily devotional ritual which uses fire as an offering. |

"You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved" - Ansel Adamss - |
