Did I Win NaNoWriMo?

INSIDE:

Update: The Curse of Albina Woods (aka Project Snow Wolf)

In Case You Missed It

November Bookshelf

Hey friends!

Despite the horrible year we’ve all had in 2020, I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving, and you were able to spend time with family, even if it was virtually. We had a small meal and a video call with our extended family. It’s tradition to decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving, so we did that too. What traditions do you have during the holidays? Hit reply or connect with me on Instagram to let me know.

Last month, I revealed the title you all voted on. Thank you again for voting and choosing the title for this project.

This month during NaNoWriMo, I worked more on the world building of the mystical Albina Woods. When I gave it to my alpha readers, I knew I needed to add world building, but couldn't decide on the details. After getting their feedback, I did some brainstorming then added to the backstory to help with the world building. Some new key characters are elementals of the forest.

If you've seen Frozen 2, this might seem familiar to you, but I'm adding two more elementals and putting my own spin on the elementals of the Albina Woods to make them a little more unique.

So far, I've revised several chapters. My goal is to finish revisions and send the entire novella to my CP by late December/early January to get her feedback. After that, I will revise again according to her notes and start to look for a few beta readers.

Overall, I didn't hit my goal as a NaNoWriMo Rebel, but it's okay. I still feel like I accomplished quite a bit. Revisions take time, and I have to keep that I mind.

Lastly, I wanted to let you know that I recently revised the pitch for it. Please remember this pitch is still a work in progress, just like the story. You can check it out on the Members' page on my website.

YALL Fest

This year the YALL Fest was virtual and free. I signed up for several sessions. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make some of them, so I’m glad they have each of the sessions on Youtube now. If you’re a writer and haven’t seen them, I highly recommend checking them out. A couple I found helpful were Victoria Schwab’s The Story Corpse, and Susan Dennard and Alex Bracken's The Intersection of Character and Theme.

THANKSGIVING2020

I've recently become an affiliate for Author Brittany Wang's Author Website Boot Camp. If you've thought about creating a website but aren't sure how or what to put on your website, you should definitely consider enrolling in Brittany's course.

Brittany takes you through the process step-by-step on how to create a website from scratch using Wix. She also includes other valuable resources you can use! I learned so much from Brittany and her course. I highly recommend it! It's also self-paced, which I found helpful.

Make sure to check it out and take advantage of the sale, which ends Cyber Monday. You can get $20 off by using the code THANKSGIVING2020.

November

This month I've listened to four audiobooks. I gave The Guest List three stars. It was a good mystery, but I figured things out pretty early and easily, so it wasn't too much of a surprise for me.  I gave the rest five stars. :)
