IEEE International Conference on Smart Mobility URF's Executive Director, Bern Grush, participated in the IEEE International Conference on Smart Mobility on September 16-18, 2024. He was on the panel: Opportunities and Challenges of Self-driving Technology and delivered a presentation as part of the Cybersecurity and Data Governance in Mobility technical session: "A Regulatory Roadmap for Public-Area Mobile Robots".
We are delighted to announce that Serve Robotics has stepped up as a financial sponsor for the Regulatory Roadmap. Thank you so much Ali and Viggy for your support! PMRs in the News Two URF members, the Toronto Zoo and Real Life Robotics, are collaborating on a pilot project that is receiving some great media coverage: Sept 27 - Toronto Star: "Meet Bubs..." and Ottawa Business Journal "Lions, tigers and … robots?" In the UK, Geopost, formerly DPD group, has confirmed plans to launch autonomous robot deliveries in Lincoln as part of a nationwide roll-out that could see up to 30 UK depots operating robots in their locality. Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for Highways at Lancashire County Council (LCC) said: "This is a very interesting trial of the system, and we will be watching it closely to see how it goes. Technology such as this is clearly part of the future of traffic and highways use so it's good to be involved at such an early stage. We are interested in the outcomes of this trial and where it could lead for the future." Source: Institute of Couriers www.ioc.uk.com |

New URF member, Associate Prof. Stuart Reeves, Mixed Reality Lab, School of Computer Science, University of Nottingham will be our guest speaker for a webinar in January that features some highlights of his research related to human-robot interactions and the 'invisible human work' done to accommodate PMRs that allows them to run smoothly. We invite you to review the article "Encountering Autonomous Robots on Public Streets" published in March 2024 that was awarded 'best paper' at the 2024 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction. |
