We are excited to announce our new Alumni Book Club for April and May featuring alumnus Steve Mitchinson’s book entitled, Dying for Life: How Jesus’ Passion Reframes Life and Death as Dying and Rebirth. Steve is a palliative care physician whose perspective (alongside patristic and contemporary voices) makes for a stunning call to embrace death as a journey through growth in the womb of this life toward rebirth in the next.

CALLING ALL WRITERS, POETS, ARTISTS, THINKERS ...
 
In 2024 SSU is launching the inaugural issue of our collective / reflective journal (yet to be named) centred on SSU's mission & purpose -
 
"The Mission of St. Stephen's University is to prepare people, through academic, personal, and spiritual development, for a life of justice, beauty, and compassion, enabling a humble, creative engagement with their world."
 
This annual journal will publish a beautifully designed collection of works from the previous year; both in the form of academic writing and in contributions from our professors, guest lecturers, student body and alumni. Our hope is to highlight the aesthetic and knowledge production of our entire global learning community.
 
This is an INVITATION calling for contributions for the very first publication which will launch in Augusta/September 2024.
 
We welcome the following -
Academic Essays, Poetry, Songs, Sermons, Theological Reflections, Art Pieces, and Creative Writing
 
Contributions should highlight our pursuit of justice, beauty and compassion; beckoning a radical call to see the world transformed by love and for love.

Steve Mitchinson co-wrote and produced the song, “Mind of Christ” with Brian Doerksen which was also inspired by his discoveries through research for Dying for Life, our featured book for our Alumni Book Club beginning on April 18th at 6 p.m. EST!
