IWCA Launches New “Friends” Initiative

Today, we launched the IWCA Friends initiative: a new way for climate action champions across the wine value chain to support our mission and grow our movement alongside IWCA Member wineries. IWCA Friends—wine sector professionals and entities, suppliers and distributors, and retailers—share the same core commitment as IWCA Member wineries: to tackle greenhouse gas emissions across their operations and supply chain.

Our First Knowledge Exchange Seminar

We recently held our very first IWCA Knowledge Exchange Seminar—a new, member-exclusive initiative to facilitate knowledge sharing on concrete strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We invited two IWCA wineries, Château Troplong Mondot (France) and Familia Torres (Spain), to share their experiences working with biomass boilers. These frank discussions—off-the-record, by wineries, for wineries—are one of the valuable opportunities that IWCA facilitates for our member wineries (though you can read highlights of the conversation here!).

Member Winery Upgrades!

IWCA’s membership requirements are the most rigorous standards for climate action in the wine industry—so it’s a big deal when wineries reach a new membership level.

We are delighted that Spottswoode Estate & Winery (California, USA) and VSPT Wine Group (Chile) achieved IWCA Gold Level, a result of their consistent reductions in emissions and investments in renewable energy (at least 20% of their operations are powered by onsite renewables).

Congratulations are also in order for Famille Perrin (France) and Voyager Estate (Australia), two former Applicant wineries who reached IWCA Silver Level having completed a comprehensive baseline emissions inventory across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 and committing to reaching net zero by 2050.
