The Wheel Turns

2023 is the year of The Chariot, the seventh card in the major arcana.

(2+0+2+3=7, The Chariot)

My queer witches. How’s your breath? What do you notice in your body when you exhale? For me, as I breathe out, I feel so much potential for integration, wisdom, and joy! There's so much I'm ready to let go of and so much I'm ready to embrace. The Chariot marks a milestone in maturity and a new chapter in consciousness. Seven is a symbol of victory. Take inventory of all you have managed to overcome in 2022, and throw yourself a little parade! Mind your ego, though. Seven is also a number for reflecting on mistakes and learning from them. There's still a lot of work ahead, but you've leveled up (even if you don't feel it yet). None of us are perfect and we’re all worth celebrating.

2022 was the year of The Lovers. This card preceding The Chariot teaches us so much about how to love- whether that’s romantic, platonic, familial, or creative. The Lovers also has a lot to teach us about how we make choices by balancing our desires with our responsibilities. That was a tough lesson for me in 2022. I chose to sue my ex-wife after years of trying to "be reasonable" (and won). I chose to leave a job I loved in order to focus on my child’s mental health needs. I chose more debt for the sake of finally getting top surgery. I chose to continue masking in public and saying no to dance parties. It was HARD! And worth it.

What hard choices did you make this year? What won out- desire or responsibility? There’s no moral value either way because desire and responsibility are subjective. What matters are the lessons we learned along the way because we’re going to need that wisdom for the year of The Chariot. 2023 is going to teach us a lot about boundaries! Healthy boundaries let love in while still keeping our hearts safe. Most of us over-correct either by not letting love in at all, or losing ourselves to the pursuit of love. The Chariot learns to balance the two through self-control.

Tarot For Top Surgery is going on Hiatus.

Tarot For Top Surgery is officially ONE YEAR OLD on January fourth! We're going on hiatus to reflect on everything we’ve learned and how we want to move forward, to provide the most financial aid possible to our community members struggling to access gender affirming procedures.

Here are some ONE YEAR highlights:

~Because of T4T, Jasper was able to access the top surgery they'd been waiting on for five years.

~12 different professional tarot readers contributed their time and energy to the project!

~We filled SEVENTY tarot orders!

~We have $200 in our savings account, ready and waiting for when we continue our work. (If you are a T4T sponsor on patreon, half of those funds will continue to be saved in our savings account!

Thank you, everyone, for your love and support! We look forward to the future!

Channeled By Ava: Moving with love through conflict and creating boundaries

How can we approach someone or something causing hurt with love? What actions can we take that say “you're not bad, you're not exiled, you're not inherently wrong, but this is causing me pain.”  and let the understanding of our emotions, accompanied with any boundaries, be enough. How do we distinguish punishment from boundaries when the boundary is unpleasant?

Book a Reading with Ava

“Punishment, commonly, is the imposition of an undesirable or unpleasant outcome upon a group or individual, meted out by an authority”

It can feel icky when someone's boundary conflicts with your wants or desires (for example: A child wants pizza and the parent doesn't have the energy to make or buy it.) The difference, however, is when a boundary is used in a response to hurt and to control the other by establishing authority (not allowing a child to have pizza because they said/ did something considered “bad”)

To approach hurt with love does not mean delete your feelings, it does not mean pretend everything is ok. We can sit with  these feelings, and with our community, and see the feelings for their roots. The conversation becomes: “This action hurts me, I feel (emotion), I need (boundary/request)” rather than putting the blame on a person and punishing them for it.  Approaching with love can mean creating boundaries about how much/ little you can experience being around this person. Importantly, these boundaries do not mean you as an individual have the authority to declare how others relate to this person. Yes, it can hurt when people agree with the person who hurt you, but is it not creating the same energy to gather people who see them as a hurtful person?

Living in a society reliant on punishment, it is a practice to unlearn these habits. Punishing yourself for not acting this way in the past is just as hurtful as punishing others.

May you set love as your focus through the trial and error of conflict resolution this Year of the Chariot.
