Welcome to the final MYAN WA Newsletter for 2019! Reflecting back on the final year MYAN WA helped support and develop sector knowledge on issues of importance to refugee and migrant young people through forums, training and regular communications. In this period MYAN WA hosted well attended forums on important topics including trauma, sexual health and disability. In 2020 we hope to continue to represent, advocate and provide platforms to refugee and migrant young people. |

Disability Forum Report Last month MYAN WA held its last forum for 2019 focusing on young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds with disabilities. The forum included a panel discussion with exceptional speakers including Alia Abdi, Christine Grace, Liz Auko, Rebecca Biltoft, Siyat Abdi and Nihal Iscel. It was a great opportunity for topics not often heard such as the intersectionality of disadvantage, challenges and stigmas faced in these communities and how we can provide more opportunities to young people. MYAN WA has created a report addressing the major issues and topics brought up during the panel discussion as well as the group collaboration activity. |
