January's 4th Wednesday is here; one more and the month is history!
How is your week going? On this side of the world, a few of us are half way through my 5 Day Healthy Mind in Healthy Body Challenge!
Just last Saturday, *January 20th* I was away in Lisbon, Portugal celebrating my birthday! I ate Pasteis de Nata, lots of seafood, and drank Vinho Verde. I was away with my hubby and we had a lovely time!
However, I kept feeling that although on vacation, my body wasn't on vacation. Lisbon being a hilly city, similar to San Francisco, reminded me just how important it is to maintain great health now and into our old age.
What do you do while on vacation? Do you find a way to indulge in all the richness a new culture has to offer while at the same time making sure you include fiber, plenty of water, and sleep?
I typically aim for 70/30, although sometimes I arrive at 50/50 in terms of what I would consider a healthy diet -without any guilt. I walk a lot during my travels and that helps keep the extra pounds at bay. When I return home I eat mostly plant based, removing sugar and alcohol for a few days - this time I'm in good company!
Being intentional about resetting my eating habits, cutting back on sweets and alcohol, and spending more time reflecting on the experience allow my body and mind to find balance and joy in life.
