Welcome to the spring edition of our ABAP Newsletter! It was a
treacherous winter for those of you on the West Coast, in the Central
States, and in parts of the Northeast. I hope everyone made it through
safely.
In this edition you will find the usual useful information and updates from our Executive Office.
Also, with permission of the author and Four Winds Hospital, I am
reprinting an article by my friend and former colleague, David Pogge, Ph.D.,
"Estimation of Violence Risk in Adolescents". The article appeared in the
Four Winds Hospital Newsletter a few months ago, and I thought the
information was particularly relevant to our members.
Dr. Pogge is Director of Psychology, Research & Training, at Four Winds Westchester, and he is also on the faculty of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. He has presented his research on various aspects of adolescent
mental health at numerous American Psychiatric Association conventions
and has been widely published. Four Winds Hospitals, in Katonah and
Saratoga Springs, NY, provide inpatient and partial hospital services to
children, adolescents, and adults. It’s also where I worked for almost thirty
of my forty-two years in practice.
