Meditation Garden

Creating art in a series is my go to MO. I know I've talked about it before, probably more than once, but definitely worth bringing up again and again...kinda like a series!

I find painting in a series very rewarding as it gives the artists a deeper dive into a subject, a color palette, sizes and shapes of surfaces to paint on (remember when I did blocks HERE), or new techniques you may want to experiment with and see where they take you.

In the short video clip above you can see were the two pieces below started before I played with them even more. Never be afraid to paint over something, even if you're liking it, you never know where it will take you.

I had fun finding new paintings that were hiding in the first paintings! I just take a matte and wander around the paintings to see what shows up, this is my favorite part of the exploration!

I'm pretty happy with the seven piece in this series so far...and heading back to the studio today to create 3 more before I decide if that's enough...or I may continue until I feel complete with this series.

I highly recommend delving into a subject, color, idea and getting it all out onto a surface whether it be paint, assemblage, collage or whatever medium you are drawn to. I always say..."as long as you have the paint out, why not create more than just one?"

I wasn't sure what the title of this series would be until it magically popped into my head as I wrote this post and came to the above photo...it just had to be "Meditation Garden". These pieces are being created for Left Bank Art, an art licensing company open to the design and hospitality trade. I am one of the artists who's work they license and really happy to be creating this series for them.

Apropos for where I am in my art practice.

As many of you know I've been doing a weekly blog post for many years. I've found it to be very rewarding to share what's going on in my studio with you all. It's also been the one thing I do that keeps me on a track and on schedule each week...which is good for a mulitpotentialite like me!

In order to bring you interesting content from my studio, share what other artists are up to, and new ideas and techniques for you to tap into...it takes a lot of research, photo taking and editing, writing and techie stuff on the computer. This all adds up to less time painting, and I am an artist first who loves to paint and wants more time doing that and less time in front of my computer screen.

My hope is you'll understand me cutting back to once a month with my blog posts...some may even really appreciate it! My new schedule will be the first Sunday of the month I'll post all that I'm up to so we won't loose touch of what's going on in the studio...and I hope you'll keep sending your comments...I love your comments! I may post every now and again in-between if there's something I just can't wait to tell you...but I'm going to try out the once a month thing and see how it goes. I may go through some withdrawals...but I have painting to fall back on!

Most of all Thank You...

for staying with me all this time and I so hope you'll stick around to see what I'm up to in the studio and how I do with this once a month thing. I also want to thank the new subscribers who've joined in recently...I'll make sure none of you are disappointed with the new set up and the content I'll share. I appreciate you!

The bad news is...time flies

The good news is...you're the pilot
