LAST MONTH'S "EGGING"

In November, we Egged the WISE Mentoring Program (Women Inspiring, Supporting & Empowering. Chantel Taylor founded this nonprofit that helps

young women by providing them with mentoring workshops to discover their strengths and empower them to reach their goals. We were able to "egg" them with a backpack community service event!

WHAT ARE THE EGGS UP TO THIS MONTH? (Book 1, Chapter 4)

December - Generosity

Ms. Poach introduces the Eggs to a "Generosity Challenge." She has the class bring in items to donate to other children, but also challenges them to give some of their time away to those who may be alone or in need of help. As always, Benedict does not want to participate, but Seggourney helps

him to find his "generous side," and he has a realization about what it means to be truly generous.

Now let's meet our

December Interviewee!

Roger Steed

Founder

The 3rd Act Podcast

The mission of the 3rd Act in 2021 was to increase the impact of our efforts to help deserving individuals and organizations that are making a difference in this crazy world. This year we kicked it up a notch and strive to increase awareness and participation by focusing on a more targeted effort to bring greater benefits to those who need a helping hand. I believe that pulling together connections, good stories, and a shared mission to help others is powerful and can change lives.

The inspiration for the 3rd Act was the aftermath of my early infection with COVID in March 2020. A period of isolation in my room recovering left a great deal of reflection time. After feeling better, I began to speak with my family and friends about my thoughts and desire to make something good out of my situation. We talked about my early life and how some key ‘lifequake’ events that never left me led to my ultimate, personal question of my purpose in life at 66 years old. I wanted to make an effort to help folks that could use a helping hand.

So, the 3rd Act is multifaceted in my mind. It is my 3rd Act of doing something good and helping people promote their good deeds and efforts to help others.

It is also the 3rd Act of the people I am highlighting because they are dedicating their lives to helping others.

And finally, I think of the 3rd Act as a community of kind-hearted people that want to give, volunteer, and make an effort to help others they may be introduced to for the first time.

I first started writing weekly blogs about charities & individuals doing good things for others. Through new connections & great dialogue with friends, I felt doing a podcast would be a great addition to illuminate wonderful people taking on amazing endeavors to help others. I did my first podcast in Sept 2020. While it was a little bit intimidating in the beginning, I have become much more comfortable with the format and now look forward to introducing my special guests to the 3rd Act community.

The three pillars provide my mission.

Illumination is my way of spreading the word and spotlighting the great work many individuals & charities are doing in our communities.

Compassion for others, children, and organizations that need help in funding their endeavors by providing a platform to educate the 3rd Act community.

Inspiration is my way of encouraging people to get involved through volunteering, fund- raising, and finding a cause that is important to them.

I have many great stories that are really meaningful to me! I cannot single out just one. However, I will say that one of the truly great outcomes from my endeavor is meeting new people and connecting with so many kind-hearted folks that have the same passion to help others. I call it the connective thread. The fact that it has led me to have a great conversation or a meaningful podcast or fundraising event with friends all across the country and internationally really blows my mind. It often energizes me to find the next important interview, like your effort, that makes it all worthwhile.

I recognize that the 3rd Act is a work in progress. I would like our collective effort to have a bigger influence on helping friends and organizations to really enhance their efforts. I realize that fundraising is not easy and all kind-hearted people have a lot of organizations pulling on their sleeve for financial assistance.

Hopefully, with time and the right situation, maybe a large goal for a school, center or campus to teach and grow great projects that can help many adults and children would be a nice goal to attain.

Thank you, Roger - you are making a difference!

I hope you enjoyed reading about Roger's

heartfelt podcast and initiative.
