i4Q Newsletter n°3

We are thrilled to see i4Q evolving and taking form via frequent operational tests and experiments. Our solutions are currently being built and tested in order for their first release to be demonstrated in June 2022. Additionally, standardisation activities are high on our agenda for the delivery of standardised outcomes focused on the manufacturing sector.

The i4Q project is entering its 2nd year since its launch in January 2021. Many events have taken place, and will take place in order to promote the project and develop relations between partners and other stakeholders. In one hand, the i4Q community has continued through meetings and workshops its activities, in the other hand, international collaborations are ongoing with other projects as participations to workshops or more structured common dissemination with the 4ZDM cluster.

I-ESA 2022 | i4Q Worshop | Factor Visit

The I-ESA’22 (Interoperability for Enterprise Systems and Applications) Conference will be organized by the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia from march 23 to march 25 on behalf INTERVAL (Spanish Pole of INTEROP-VLab) and INTEROP-VLab. It is sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing and the International Federation of Automatic Control.

A Workshop “Industrial Data Services for Quality Control in Smart Manufacturing” will be moderated by Stefanos Vrochidis, Ilias Gialampoukidis and Raul Poler, i4Q partners will present their work during this event.

Furthemore, a visit to FACTOR pilot company will take place on Tuesday 22 March.

i4Q – DIN and project partners started to develop the standardization strategy for i4Q

The first day of the workshop took place on 27 January. The goal was to identify standardisation needs/gaps/ideas or challenges. DIN prepared a collaborative whiteboard. The partners were asked to think about what could be standardised in the i4Q project and to write down their ideas on the whiteboard.

The partners collected a lot of good ideas, as you can see in the following picture :

The second day of the workshop day took place on 23 February. The objective was to fill out a prepared table for the top six ideas in order to evaluate them in terms of specific factors that are essential to consider when developing a CWA (CEN Workshop agreement).

In addition, the partners agreed on the actions required for each of the top ideas to be pursued. In a next step, DIN will analyse the results of the workshop, develop the standardisation strategy for the i4Q project and initiate further standardisation activities.

i4Q's Plenary Meeting

In November (between 9th and 11th of November), the 3rd plenary meeting of the i4Q took place in Valencia. It was organized by Universidad Politècnica de València (UPV). This meeting was held in hybrid format, with some of the partners attending it physically, and the others online.

The main goal of this plenary was to report the status of the project, so each workpackage leader made a presentation and showed the conducted activity and the results obtained.

The plenary meeting was very fruitful since it caused important technical discussions, especially between pilots and technical partners. This way, all partners shared their ideas about the work carried on so far, indicate the main challenges they were facing and elaborate development plans for the months to come.

4ZDM Cluster

The i4Q project is a member of the 4ZDM Cluster, the European home for zero defect manufacturing established together with OPTIMAI, DAT4Zero, InterQ & PeneloPe.

Participation to the Workshop "Boosting Collaboration for Digital Transformation"

Last December 14th, FACTOR participated in the “Boosting Collaboration for Digital Transformation” Workshop organized by the projects DIH4CPS, SMART4ALL and SAE held in Valencia at UPV.

FACTOR dealt with the importance of the participation of SMEs in European Projects. It highlighted the benefits and the opportunities for them, and the importance of finalizing the innovation pipeline in the real industrial scenarios that pilots allow. This prevents the Research and Development ending up with ideas that are non applicable in practice.
