Our partners have been on the ground and doing the work. Our project team has been moving things along behind the scenes. Here are a few updates from the EJGP network. Keep reading to stay in the know! |

We held our last full network meeting a few weeks ago with over 60 people in attendance. Thank you for being there! Check out the notes below: |

Network Partner Campaign Updates |
Since our discussion in November, the Get the Lead Out Campaign has been working with the City on facets of the proposed Pittsburgh Lead Safety Law. Council is now preparing to introduce it this summer and we are optimistic it can be enacted in the following weeks. Just as importantly, Pittsburgh can apply critical American Rescue Plan Act funding to lead remediation. We are now advocating for the use of these dollars to protect residents, particularly children of color in rental homes, from lead exposure. Read more and join us in contacting City Council and the Mayor to invest in the prevention of this 100% preventable problem here: |

So far, we have presented our petition to the Allegheny County Council, Council President, and County Executive. We have paused on sharing with Pitttsburgh City Council. If you would like to be contacted when we do plan to present at City Council, you should sign the petition to be updated. |

After a very successful start to the Fair Fares for a Full Recovery Campaign, with over 50 organizational supporters, 30+ speakers providing testimony during Port Authority meetings, and plenty of media coverage, we are working to shift gears into the next phase of the campaign. Stay tuned for more updates and information to come soon, and please continue to share our sign-on letter in the meantime. At their May board meeting, The Heinz Endowments awarded us a grant for the next year to support intersectional campaigns that EJGP network partners are leading. We’ve been talking with some partners about where their campaigns stand and how the EJGP network may be able to support them. Stay tuned! |

Centering Lived Experiences |
Over the past several weeks, a few members of our team have been visiting different neighborhoods, attending events, and speaking with neighborhood-based organizations about their neighborhoods. We’re developing a plan for how we can better center residents’ lived experiences in the overall work of EJGP and in the work of our network partners. If you would like to plug-in to this work, please email Neil Brown at neil@urbankind.org. |
We are developing our first EJGP info guide. This guide will provide information about Allegheny County representatives and senators in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, including what committees they sit on and how to contact their local offices. Hopefully, this tool will serve as a quick reference guide for EJGP policy advocacy work! We plan to create more info guides as needs arise. |
