Summer Activities

With many events cancelled for the summer we created a fun list of things you can still do and keep socially distant.

Walking/Biking- Tulsa has fun hiking trails at Turkey Mountain, enjoy a walk or bike ride down Riverside, walk through The Gathering Place (it's buildings and playgrounds are still closed) or get out in your neighborhood and stretch your legs.

Camping - There are many fun and great ways to get outdoors and camp. You can use a tent, RV, or camper. You can set up camp at a lake, campgrounds, or even your own backyard.

Water - There are many great ways to enjoy the water this summer. You can swim in your own pool, go to one of the many Oklahoma lakes for swimming or boating, or even enjoy sprinklers in your own backyard.

Picnics - Need out of the house for a bit? A picnic is a fun activity for yourself, couple time, or family time. You can pack your own lunch or pick up something from a local small business.

Boating

Summertime has some of the best boating weather out of the year. We hope you are out on the lake, soaking up the sunshine and catching some fish. Here are a few tips from Crownline boats to help keep you safe while on the water:

  1. Make sure you check the weather before you head out. Here in Oklahoma the weather can change quickly. You may need to prepare for sunburns, wind, hail, and rain all in the same afternoon.

  2. Wear a life jacket. Many drowning incidents result from boaters not wearing life jackets. Make sure you protect family and friends from becoming a statistic by wearing proper life jackets.

  3. Pack food and water for snacks. It’s always a good idea to pack more than you think you will need. You can work up quite an appetite and you need to stay hydrated while out on the water.

  4. Bring a first aid kit. Accidents can always happen and you want to be prepared for injuries. Check your supplies each year to ensure sure they are still in date.

  5. Float Plan. If you don’t have a float plan now is a great time to develop one. A float plan is the following information you leave with someone not on the boat with you:

-Your name, address, and phone number

-The names and phone numbers of the other passengers

-Your boat information

-Where you plan to take your boat

4. Boat Insurance. Make sure your boat is covered in the event of an accident. Don’t have boat insurance? Perhaps you already have your boat insured somewhere else. We would love to look at your coverage and make sure you are getting the best rate. Give our office a call.
