Mom & Dad drove & shuffled & cleaned & packed & barely slept. It was worth it. Our fair hit multiple records of people & this year was the most attended. I can absolutely vouch for that because trying to get from one thing to another was an absolute nightmare. But at the end of the day, it was so nice seeing all the people from all over the state and the country to come to one place. Truly, nothing compared.
We spent the next day at home. The kids were practically sloths just doing the bare minimum of their chores. I did loads, upon loads of laundry. And... I was preparing for the next day..my new job. Late May, I accepted the position as the high school agriculture teacher & FFA Advisor. Yes, I know what you are probably thinking...is she crazy? And the answer is yes.
To be honest, it was not something I was seeking out, and I really didn't want to do it. I like the ability to just come and go and do whatever I want, always. LOL. But, Wade reminded me of a few things... 1. I did go to school & receive my Master's Degree in Agricultural Education. And 2. Sydney will be be in high school in just one more school year. So, I agreed. I now have 1 full week under my belt with students and I am currently very happy with how the week went. I won't lie, I was terrified. It has been so long since I have been around high school students in mass quantities. I will report back next month, and let you know how it goes! Fingers crossed it continues this way.
And if you are wondering, yes. The kids are still dual-enrolled. Somehow, they stars aligned & I was able to get into the middle school for an 8th grade agriculture class. Both kids will be at the middle school when I am there. Kids stay home, do chores, school work and take care of the dogs. They have lunch, Wade brings them to school and Sydney is in ag class with me, while Jackson goes to his specials each day.
We have one more thing, kinda a big deal. Wade started a new job too. Yep! Why not throw it all into one month? LOL. On August 30th Wade started with Maschoffs. He will be doing the same thing now, just for a different company.
With all that is going on in our lives, we are quickly reminded how fast things change. How times seems to tick by and its only up to us to make the most out of each day. As we head into a season of new birth with calves, and hopefully a few litters or late fall/early winter puppies we are so thankful. We are thankful for each other, our family, our health, and our ability to work hard to get everything done.
We are also thankful for those who support us, whether it is bringing home your next family member, buying beef or pork, or sharing & commenting on our social media post. Thank you.
Here to new beginnings & new life here at Stremsterfers.
