Happy New Year!

Serene Winter, 7 x 5", available on Etsy

Hello, friends! I hope 2024 is off to a perfect start for you and the rest of the year gets even better. It's been a quiet, but pleasant start for me. I've been taking a break from most classes since mid-December, which has been nice, but I'm also looking forward to spending time with my students again.

Speaking of which, I have a few class openings to tell you about. My every-other-Thursday beginner's group that starts next week has unexpectedly had an opening, so hopefully someone can grab that last-minute spot. And there are also a few spaces in my two upcoming workshops. Check out the full info below.

New artwork

Dashing Sanderlings, 20 1/2 x 10"

My first painting of the New Year is action-packed! I'm excited by the rhythm of these tiny birds, with their obsessive wave-chasing habits, who run along the shoreline and dash toward the ocean as each wave recedes, gobble up as many little invertebrate critters as they can, then turn and flee from the next rushing wave at the last possible moment. I photographed these sanderling sandpipers on the beach north of Corolla, NC. It was September, and this flock had their winter plumage already, but there were others on different parts of the beach that were still in breeding colors. It was beautiful and interesting to see!
