Barn Talk

Anyone seen spring ?

The weather has been crazy and I hope all of you are safe and not affected too much by the downpour we have had. I must admit Gippsland normally has a huge amount but we have been so lucky compared to the rest of Victoria of which our hearts go out to you.

Well I have launched the maintenance club of which I was told it sounded like a strip club, Club 468 and of course I did not think of that! Either way it is a great and first initiative by Breton Equine to have a program that rewards you to have Body Equine Work as part of your normal routine of horse care. If you would like more information please email me on info.bretonequineservices@gmail.com

REMEMBER PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE.

I am also coming across so many people who are switched on to the non-traditional ways of horse care and are willing to explore a non-traditional way of treatment and that is exciting. It feels great to align myself with those who feel that their horse care is so important and I have had so many stars that are placing their horses before ribbons.

I have my first sponsored rider/team and thank you to Team Aussie for allowing me to work with you. They have so much alignment and a connection with each other that is wonderful and I am excited to see where this all leads. Love you guys and Go Team Aussie.

But not only that I have had some wonderful people and equally beautiful people who are out there and competing with their beautiful horses. The one thing I noticed with all these great people is that their horse is allowed to express itself and character rather than being a push button and I truly believe that it makes a better rider/horse combination.

Not long until Christmas so stay tuned for any products that I will pop together if you have a horsey friend who needs a gift!

Stay safe and dry and lets go find the sunshine and bring it back

Other than that ride on …… Stay safe and be happy

BACK IN STOCK AND NEW PRODUCT

Proud to say we have more U-Bute in stock so head over to the store.  This is such a great alternative to Bute which is harmful to your horse's hind gut. Whilst U-Bute takes a little longer you can give your horse a dose of bute and then move on to U-Bute to maintain pain control. Bute itself is one of the first generations of pain killers for horses and there are so many more now on the market with little side effects yet it is still the one we reach for.

I am so excited for our new product from the Mickie Magan stable which is B*tch Please - great for mares who have hormonal issues. If your mare suffers from:

*Erratic behavior

* Extra sensitivity when ridden

* Winking all the time

* Backing up to Geldings

Then your mare may have a hormonal imbalance and just like us women it can affect mares differently, some go without you even knowing that they are in season and others well…. This will assist them.

All herbal treatments like this it is recommended that you follow a 12 week cycle , why? That is a full blood cycle, when it has taken 12 weeks for all blood in the body to be regenerated.  This is roughly 3 bottles per mare.

Head over to the shop to purchase

GATE UPDATE

You may remember my post on the horse vs the gate?  Well it has been 4 weeks and the horse is looking amazing and ready to go back into work. This was all due to consistency in treatment, kept the horse in movement and in light work for a short time. As you can see from the pictures above this horse has not lost any muscle condition at all.

Basically there was a short period of no work and treatment on the legs, this allowed swelling to go and healing to begin.  During this time he was still turned out in his paddock not locked in a small area. The thing we tend to want to do is confine them and minimize the movement, but horses need to move even if it is a small walk but they need that option so that inflammation and swelling starts to move and the lymphatic system can start to take away any toxins etc. He then did small work in a round yard for 10 mins and nothing too harsh but keeping his mind and body active. Looking forward to seeing back at work.

Special Mention

I wanted to make special mention to two lovely horses and their team who recently I have worked with them to achieve great results.

Hartley and Kait have done very well together and its been a bit of a journey.  Poor Hartley was not right and after I did a couple of treatments I felt it was his stifle and Kait got further investigation by her vet who confirmed a locked stifle and with some treatment from the vet and myself as well as giving Kait some exercises to strengthen. Kait was acutely aware that it was not going to be just one treatment and Kait followed through with the information I provided and th.did the exercises regularly. Hartley, finally got to compete - so proud of you.

Then there is Zak who is a character. I got to see Zak after he had been very sick with some sort of infection as well as an abcess and general not himself. Georgia and Daina again took everything I said and showed them which is just great. I have done a few treatments on Zak and his team has taken to maintenance rather than waiting which is amazing. Zak and Georgia have a great bond and they push each other buttons which I think makes their relationship special. Zak has grown more cheeky and the feedback I have received is he is wanting to go and did one of his best rounds in competition which I am just so happy about.  Love working with you all and I am so proud of you both.
