FEBRUARY AT HEART There is no enlightenment outside of daily life. |

Hello, dear sangha, It seems only fitting, that as beloved teacher Thich Nhat Hanh continues, he bring in our dharma teachings at the start of another month together. In this way we continue to practice our understanding that he endures and lives on through us as practitioners: "a cloud never dies". Thay is an inspiration for all of us as a living Buddha. Just as we studied in January, the Buddha is the potential within all of us to not only live fully in this life, but to continue, into the ultimate, through the ownership of our actions. Being human at this time comes with tremendous responsibility and, in my opinion, it might just be one of the greatest opportunities on earth. What goodness, compassion and understanding we practice endures into the future. Thay has said, "This body of mine will disintegrate, but my actions will continue me. In my daily life, I always practice to see my continuation all around me... when you look at my friends, you see my continuation. When you see someone walking with mindfulness and compassion, you know they are my continuation. I don't see why we have to say, 'I will die', because I can already see myself in you, in other people and in future generations." Often times students discuss that it isn't so much death that causes them fear but the lack of loving impact that they may have in the lives of others, on the planet and beyond, during the course of this short human life. I understand firsthand that mindfulness may be practiced to serve as a tool to more clearly see what it means to make an impact, to live into the ultimate, and in the meantime, to be fully alive and in touch with daily life. After all what is enlightenment if it cannot be found in the most simple of experiences? Repeat after me, enlightenment is not exclusive! Enlightenment, loving impact and joyful living starts in the smallest of details. Thay says, "To practice mindfulness is to become alive. Life is so precious, yet in our daily lives we are carried away by our forgetfulness, anger and worries. We are often lost in the past, unable to touch life in the present moment. When we are truly alive, everything we touch or do is a miracle. To practice mindfulness is to return to life in the present moment." This right here, right now, this is what we are waking up to. There is no enlightenment outside of daily life. This month we bring our awareness to being available to the awakening that rests in the most quiet of moments. The ability to recognize our awakening is right here, right now. Let's practice, let's awaken so that we may enjoy this life. With heart, Meg Lucks and Team Heart |

Becky is coming back- Save the Dates! Yoga for Neurodiversity is about meeting the needs of your unique nervous system in ways that feel most natural to you; this looks different for everyone, especially for neurodivergent folks with diagnoses such as autism, ADHD, bipolar, OCD, or dyslexia. Embodying your particular neurotype is a journey, and it can be harder if you’ve learned to “mask” or hide your neurodivergent traits, perhaps at the expense of self-care and self-love. It helps to have company along the way. Click the image to register for the April 23rd session. Pay what you can! |
