INSIGHTS | Prioritizing Employees |

To help make workers' financial health a priority for business leaders, PayPal, JUST Capital, Financial Health Network and Good Jobs Institute launched the Workers Financial Wellness Initiative. It calls on companies to assess the financial vulnerability of their workforce and identify opportunities to improve employee resilience, and aims to bring together C-suite leaders around the issue. Financial wellness is one piece of what it means to treat employees fairly, an issue that has held the top spot on the JUST rankings — with the 2021 JUST 100 Companies now released in Forbes. New this year is corporate pandemic response. Microsoft ranked #1 for the third year in a row, and there are 38 new companies on the list to explore. Check out the full rankings here. |

ENVIRONMENT | Helping Customers Eat Climate-friendly |

The latest diet trend aims to whittle your waste (not just your waist). This month, Panera Bread partnered with Cool Food to create a logo that highlights which meals have a smaller carbon footprint. If every American replaced 10 burgers and fries with the brand's chipotle chicken avocado melt and potato chips – one of its climate-friendlier options – it would have the same impact as taking 16M cars off the road. For those following the trend of eating at home, Kroger launched an AI tool to help reduce food waste, spend less, and eat healthily. When people tweet a photo of the ingredients in their pantry to the Kroger ChefBot, it responds with a personalized recipe. It's a Twitter take on apps like Plant Jammer, and one part of solving a much bigger issue. |

NONPROFIT | Billions Go Without on World Food Day |
|
|
Friday marked World Food Day, a time to celebrate the foods that nourish us — and take action to support the 2B people around the world who go without. The nonprofit Action Against Hunger* has found that most Americans underestimate hunger as a global issue, yet it tops the list of concerns once they realize it's preventable and treatable. So, this year, Action Against Hunger teamed with Netflix on a campaign to raise awareness and much-needed funds. Actors from the platform's action series showed their best "hunger-ending moves" in a short video, inviting viewers to donate and post their own actions on social media. Funds support a variety of innovative programs, like an AI-driven "traffic alert" that helps herders in East Africa find better pasture, and hydroponics in Ethiopia. *Action Against Hunger is a CCOP client |

VOTING | From Tragedy to Action |

In 2018, Sari Kaufman was a sophomore when a shooting at her high school in Parkland, Florida took 17 lives. In the days that followed, Sari and fellow students created March for Our Lives, an activist campaign to end gun violence. While working on the campaign, Sari led a coalition to collect 1,000+ voter registrations in one day, and was shocked by how little information people had about local leadership, candidates and policy issues. Now, she has partnered with Duke University professor David McAdams and political strategist Gita Stulberg to create My Vote Project — a nonpartisan effort to to equip voters with policy information before they cast their ballot. Currently, My Vote Project provides background on candidates and policies in three swing states: Florida, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. Listen to Sari's inspiring story. *CCOP provided pro bono support to the My Vote Project. |

To celebrate LGBT History Month, the initiative released a short film that explores the complexities of bringing a LGBTQ+ partner home for the first time. Along with the film, Oreo released a limited-edition rainbow cookie that will be rewarded to the first 10,000 people who share what allyship means to them. Read more about the initiative. |
