‘On the Farm' - PART TWO!

In an exciting new development, Take Off is working with a new partner in the Canterbury and Coastal locality to develop a new Farm Group.

An amazing organisation, Tuition Extra, has a large presence in Canterbury. They provide tutoring, qualifications and therapeutic services that inspire children and young people across Kent and the South East.

Amongst the many services they deliver they have a wonderful 52-acre farm site at Hoath. This has several rescued horses, rabbits, and chickens all cared for by highly trained staff and attendees.

This is a great opportunity for Take Off attendees to engage with the natural environment, get some ‘air and space’ and mix with these beautiful animals. Opportunities also exist to learn some new skills, maintain the environment as well as the stables and other outbuildings.

This will be launching soon so keep watching for news on our social media and website.

Millfield Road Allotment Site

After a bit of a ‘hiatus’, due to a variety of reasons, attention is returning to our plot of land in Faversham.

We are now looking for people to attend, enjoy the peace, birdsong and natural environment of this lovely site. We have great plans at Take Off for what could become, in the coming months and years, a wonderful Community Garden. All so beneficial to our Mental and Physical Health!

A lot has already been achieved here. Funding was secured to develop the brick out-building, formerly housing computer hardware, into a lovely space for hosting meetings. We can run our ‘doing’ and ‘talking’ groups here as desired by attendees. There are also decking areas and other seating spaces for outdoor work and relaxation.

Of course, this will follow the Take Off ‘3 D’s’ model- ‘Designed, Developed and Delivered by Service Users for Service Users’. So please get involved in the planning of what is wanted and needed locally.

We are looking for several people who wish to give their time and expertise in planting a new garden and maintaining it- especially through the growing season.

Thank you to Bensted's Charity who have awarded us the funding to buy the seating and plants required. Wonderful!

I look forward to some great times at this lovely place.
