Do you have a homeowners exemption in place? If you do, then great! You don't have to worry as HOMEOWNER EXEMPTIONS roll over automatically in Cook County. In fact if your residence changes and you are still an owner, you are legally obligated to disaffirm your exemption. You can verify your homeowner exemption status by looking up your tax parcel number  at the county website or inspecting your 2019 second installment tax bill.

If you don't see a tax reduction by virtue of a homeowners exemption, then you can claim this additional tax saving by apply on-line on or before the April 9th Deadline. The original March 31, 2021 deadline has been extended.
