New Year...New Projects...New Partners |

SHEEP In collaboration with our subtenant, Mariposa Education, City Farm realized last fall's plans for introducing a livestock husbandry program. With donated labor and equipment by parent volunteers, staff members built a pen and set up a shed to house three 9-month old lambs. The children greeted the Churro sheep with a Navaho welcome ceremony and named them Peggy, Clover and Ash. |

Our pruning guru, Larry Hollis, came by to help with winter pruning of the 3-year old fruit trees in the Food Forest. In the adjacent parcel, Megan Souza of Megan's Organic Market spent the weekend with friends, employees and the manager of Bay Laurel Nursery planting 40 fruit trees that will, before long, become City Farm's U-Pic Orchard. Megan came up with the idea, the organization and the resources for this wonderful public service project. |
