OG Mail out

Greetings fellow Georgians

Welcome to a new normal around the world: face masks, sanitiser, social distancing, a time of change and uncertainty for many of us. A time to shift our focus and look after ourselves and those around us a little more.

Finding time to be grateful for many of the things we have taken for granted and the small parts of normality that are slowly returning to us. Here at the OGU office we can’t wait to see many of you again back at your old school for the OG sports, annual dinner and the other Old Georgian events.

Thank you for all your support, care and appreciations during these uncertain times. Having to temporarily close the school campus and move to online learning and a WFH (Work From Home) culture was a significant moment in our lives and something no-one would have contemplated.

Certainly the school has never had to deal with an event like this in its 170+years and I believe that we will as a school, nation, global community, individuals be stronger as we move through all this. We need and have to!

In Memoriam

Ann Snaddon died peacefully at her home in Scarborough on Friday 15 May 2020.

She and Brian joined the teaching staff at St George's in January 1985, having been appointed by headmaster Paul Cannon who had been their sons' housemaster at Hilton College some years previously. The Snaddons' home was a charming school property around the corner from the Mowbray campus, and for many years they thrived in this vibrant educational community. Ann headed the Art Department, while Brian taught Science and Maths. During this time their sons, Bruce and Chip, and their daughters, Jiggs and Kate, spread their wings and left home.
