Product Highlight

The term "roaring lion" is actually inspired by the Apostle Peter's writing:

"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8)

Notice that the devil is referred to as being like a roaring lion in this instance. Could he really have that much authority? He has to seek out those whom he may devour. This means that he can’t devour everyone. Don’t surrender your authority to him and be found among those whom he can devour!

Now, where else can this term be found in the Bible?

"A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass." (Proverbs 19:12)

The devil is an imposter who goes about as a roaring lion because he is imitating the King of Kings, Jesus Christ, the real lion of Judah. He wants people to think that our King is full of wrath, anger, and rage against us. He comes at us roaring with the voice of condemnation, accusation, and shame.

But as a believer, you need to know this: You are loved. God is not mad at you. In Christ, you can have the confident assurance that you are forgiven, loved, and righteous

Jesus rose from the grave as the real roaring lion, and because of his finished work, we qualify to dwell in paradise with him forever. So ask yourself, who is the roaring lion in your life?

Weekly Devotional

"Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, "What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created."" (2 Peter 3:3-4)

Did you know that the Second Coming of Jesus is referred to over 300 times in the New Testament? Yet, in today's world, it is hardly a topic of conversation among believers. In the past year alone, roughly 5,600 Christians were murdered, more than 6,000 were detained or imprisoned, and another 4,000-plus were kidnapped. In addition, more than 5,000 churches and other religious facilities were destroyed. It is no surprise that people persecute the faith, and scoff at the idea of Jesus' return. But as the Apostle Peter tells us, these scoffers come while mocking the truth, and following their own desires. Not only do they have an intellectual problem with God and His word. They also have a clear moral problem, wanting to reject the Lordship of Jesus over their lives. Although only God alone knows the timing of Jesus' return (Matthew 24:36), we must consider that the amount of time from Abraham, the father of Israel, to Jesus was roughly 2,000 years. Believers today have now waited for roughly 2,000 more years. Until His return, we must continue to pray for our persecutors (Matthew 5:44) and eagerly wait (Philippians 3:20) for our Savior to return.

Reflection:

  1. How often do I consider that Jesus is going to return someday?

  2. Do I praise God for allowing me to freely worship Him without fear of being persecuted for it?

  3. Jesus says that He will come at an hour when we do not expect Him (Matthew 24:42-44). Am I prepared for this to happen?
