A new camp director, camper types, and an old camp friend finds love. |

Happy Friday! It's summer, so I'm thinking about camp. Was I cool there? No. Did I love it? Not really. But I still get nostalgic for that care-free time. Today's Jew of the Week is a woman who is leading sleepaway camp Eden Village for the first time as camp director. Even if you've never been to camp or are not Jewish, it's an amazing place to learn about — read more below. I also made a fun doodle about "camper types." And, I made a love story book for a camp acquaintance's proposal. See how it turned out! Enjoy! |

JEW OF THE WEEK A female leader in the Jewish environmental movement, and my cousin! |
Eden Village is Jewish sleepaway camp that values spirituality, the environment, kindness, and making the world a better place. Simone Lindenbaum Ziv is Jew of the Week because she just started her first summer as camp director. She's been at camp, located about an hour north of NYC, for 11 years and was most recently assistant director. I worked there for two summers almost 10 years ago where I saw her leadership and passion in action. Bonus that she's now my cousin by marriage. I interviewed Simone and learned even more about her. Which type of camper were you? |

Here are a few "types," read my blog post here for all nine! Comment with your "type." Some of my followers answered on Instagram — answers varied! I was a counselor's pet, artist, and historian :) I was NOT obsessed but my sisters were. |

A love story for the books! |
Richard, who I knew from a camp I attended as a teen, asked me to turn his love story into a book. It ended up being 12 pages with cartoons of him and his now fiance (she said yes!) at big and small moments in their lives with friends and family. I love how it turned out. A few pages are below, and you can see the full story here. Reply to this email if you're interested in your own love story! |

The next Jew of the Week will probably be the UK author I interviewed last week! If you have an idea for Jew of the Week, reply to this email with their name, info, and why! It can be brief. Thanks for reading. Shabbat Shalom! Written by Danielle Brody, author, and founder/creative director at Danielle Brody Media (Danielle in Doodles + Jews in Doodles) |
