Hi All!

Welcome to my 1st ever newsletter! In this monthly newsletter I hope to give you the 'BEST OF the OOTB' for the previous month- I've never done this before so I'm figuring it out as I go. February was a month of learning and vulnerability for me. I recommitted to writing my blog and I got a surgery date for removal of my meningioma- and now here I am in your inbox!

Click the image for a recap of the actions I took to learn and celebrate Black History Month last month. I shared resources that will guide the rest of the year because Black History happens every day! Let's celebrate and learn everyday.

The most viewed blog post so far this month was U turns and Morning Prayers. It's a vulnerable share about past failures and 'quitting'. I have to say I've felt clarity of purpose this month since I've been intentional about writing and sharing the process. I appreciate the outpouring of love!

FAVORITE THINGS

Each month I'd love to highlight my favorite vegan food. I'll share recipes and blog posts when I can. My fatigue has kept me from my usual cooking self (although I'm in the kitchen a lot more y'all!) but this is a perfect time to tell y'all about GUD life Flow here in southwest GA! Providing amazing plant based food and fighting food insecurity in our area at the same time- hands down my favorite food this month! The lasagna and Alfredo were tied. Please click on the button to check them out- even if you're out of town you can give to the cause! (and donate to their food truck kickstarter!)

For Valentine's Day this year I got a fancy heart shaped box of VEGAN chocolates. Smooth, decadent, delicious. The best chocolate I've had in my 8 years since being vegan. A huge treat. That is why Good Girl Chocolates are my favorite thing for February <3 I just wish I'd gotten a bigger box. Click the button below to support this small Black woman owned business.

HEALTH UPDATE: Surgery is scheduled for May 25 to have my meningioma removed! My post viral recovery continues each day- I'm walking 3 miles at a time now and feeling better each day! I feel confident I'll be in great shape for surgery by May! Watch for my bucket list updates before then <3

About the fam

Since most of you already know us I thought I'd update you on the boys... They are doing great in virtual school. Mason and Marshall (5yo twins) are in virtual preK and are obsessed with video games. Clayton is in virtual 4th grade and he too is obsessed with video games. I guess it's to be expected with being on lockdown for almost a year. We have hope that we'll be able to loosen up and get out more soon as the weather gets warmer and vaccines more widespread. Other than a cold bug they likely picked up at the dentist, they are healthy and happy despite their impatience with virtual learning.

Nick and I look forward to a solo getaway to Monteagle Mountain soon as a bucket list item before my surgery- I'm sure you'll see a post with pictures in the next newsletter.

Thank you for taking the time to read my newsletter. Thank you for being a part of my journey. I will continue to share the process of my writing and as the book unfolds you'll see it here!

Please keep the prayers coming- I am sending love and prayers your way as I type this and hit send.
