Featured recipe: Here's an easy summer meal with a sauce made with ingredients you will likely have in your kitchen. Satay Tofu, from the Nutrition Action Healthletter, livens up sautéed tofu with a simple peanut butter sauce. Serve it with rice (or other grain), a easy kale salad, and raw veggies for a colorful and delicious summer meal. | | |

- The Needham Farmers Market is now open on Sundays noon- 4 p.m. in front of Town Hall, with guidelines to make sure shoppers and vendors are safe. You can point out what you want and they will bag it up for you. You can also preorder from several of the vendors, as long as you get your order in by the deadline. Sign up for the newsletter to find the vendors who will be at the market each week and the links to their websites.

- Please help! Due to the pandemic, the Needham Community Council Food Pantry has had a 72% increase in the number of people they are serving. Their Ride for Food, a much-needed fundraiser, is being done differently this year. Rather than a one-day event, people can choose an activity and carry it out wherever and whenever they want. More information about participating or donating to a team.

By Alexandra Diener Looking for recipes made from whole food sources, such as vegetables, fruits, legumes, tofu, and grains, with minimal amounts of oil and sugar? Pick Up Limes is both a YouTube channel and website run by Sadia Badiei, a vegan dietician. Although the focus is vegan cooking, I’ve seen quite a few comments from non-vegans who watch her videos because of the helpfulness of her channel and encouraging demeanor. Her YouTube channel includes many videos on vegan recipes, including budget and time-saving recipes. She frequently mentions alternative ingredients, such as swapping almond milk for soy milk. This makes her recipes very flexible, allowing you to make adjustments to fit your tastes and dietary needs. On her Pick Up Limes website, Sadia also posts some of the recipes from her videos as well as additional recipes, articles about nutrition, and free pdf resources that include diet-tracking guides and grocery shopping lists. My favorite recipe of hers is her homemade granola bars. |
