Dear Friends,
Preparation for Ed. 4 of the NWC is well under way and September 14 already promises to be an exciting experience for you and your co-riders while raising funds for the Nicola Werner Research Award 2019.
Like last year, Poilâne will be our key partner for the delicious and generous meals at the
3 ravitos. And, like last year, the bakery’s inspirational head, Apollonia Poilâne, plans to come along for the ride. She writes:
“As a baker and young cyclist, participating in the 2018 edition of the Nicola Werner Challenge deepened my understanding and appreciation of the cross-overs between the worlds of bakers and cyclists.
As bakers at Poilâne, we thrive to put our five-senses to the listen to our environment and bake daily a consistent quality batch of breads, biscuits and pastries. However, perfecting that art takes practice and tutelage of bakers with more experience. Similarly, it was through the tutelage of my peers that I was able to train and ride my first 200Km.
Preparing the ravitos of the 2018 edition was also remindful that alone, you cannot rise to the same level of challenges as you do as a team. The same way that a harvest cannot be nurtured or shared alone, the ravitos were a joint effort of a chain of cyclists’ experience, the passionate baking of Comptoir Poilâne’s cooks, and the riders breaking bread.
Looking forward to the 2019 edition of team work and passion.
Rise and ride!”
~ Apollonia Poilâne
With teamwork and passion in mind, not to mention the ride’s 3 opportunities to refuel with
Pain Poilâne ravitos, be sure to register in May.
Who’s hungry already?
