Poʻi Nā Nalu ʻŌlelo Piʻi ka nalu, hokua ka nalu, poʻi ka nalu, a pae. The wave rises, the wave crests, the wave breaks, then one comes ashore. Piʻi ka nalu - Just as a wave rises, we accumulate skills, experiences, and knowledge that serve as a foundation for our future endeavors. Hokua ka nalu - Just as a wave crests, we as individuals and as a whole reach high points in our educational journey—we understand our purpose, we create meaningful relationships, and achieve goals that propel us forward. Poʻi ka nalu, a pae - Just as a wave breaks, we use all that we have garnered in our experiences to move forward into the next steps of our lives. Examples of this are graduation, transferring to a four-year college, and landing a dream job. As we come ashore, we continue on our paths to pursue next steps and new goals to improve our lives and that of others. May this modern-day ʻōlelo noʻeau serve as a guide, a reminder, and an inspiration as you strive to be the best scholar you can be for yourself, your family, your community, and the lāhui. Best wishes in your upcoming endeavors! |

My name is Charles Santiago, and my major is welding technology. I grew up in Kahuku, on the north shore side. As for my career goals, I am taking the Peal Harbor test, and if I donʻt pass then iʻm considering starting my own business. In the future, I plan to work at Peal Harbor, or continue my education at HonCC, taking sheetmetal classes. In 10 years, I see myself as a Journeyman in welding, or owning a business. Poʻi Nā Nalu was very helpful to me through my academic journey. Poʻi Nā Nalu helped my by getting me books, their tutoring services, printing, and with academic services. I would like to take this time to thank Poʻi Nā Nalu for all the support that that they have shown me. Charles Santiago Welding Mahalo Charles for our stunning kalo! (YES, he welded that!) Me ke aloha, Poʻi Nā Nalu. |
