JANUARY News!

Hi FRIENDS!

Happy 2023! Let’s talk about New Year’s resolutions. Do you make them? I don’t; I tend to make goals instead. I try not to look at a new year and think, “It’s time to change myself.” Instead, I look to a new year as an opportunity for growth–”What can I accomplish this year?” I write all of my goals down (usually about 8-10) in order to revisit throughout the year. Virginia Woolf suggested in one of her journals “Nothing really happens until it has been recorded.” At the end of the year, I look at my list and, more often than not, I typically accomplish much more than I even set out to. There’s something about a clean slate, a fresh new white page that entices me. Perhaps, that’s why I’m a writer.

The holiday season was fun but hectic. I began content edits on Of Lies and Honey which started off very slow (more like molasses than honey) because life became very busy in December as it usually does. This season, especially, brought some unexpected challenges which added to my teaching responsibilities and all the Christmas prep–I felt overwhelmed with no time to spare. But, now that January is here, I’m happy to report that this past week of vacation has brought much inspiration and I’m almost finished with this first pass. It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

There’s not much news to tell on the All That is Sacred front except I’m working on an audio deal, but can’t say any more than that right now. Once it’s solidified, I should FINALLY get a release date and, believe me when I say, I cannot wait to share it with you.

I surpassed my reading challenge on Goodreads by reading 34 books (vs. the 24 I committed to) and that doesn’t count all the books I read for my teaching job. I’ve read some wonderful novels and nonfiction this year. If you are interested, my top ten are included in this month’s blog post (see link below).

Can’t wait to dive into this year’s TBR (more on that next month).
