November Newsletter

"Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."

Oprah Winfrey

The month of November is a time to celebrate Thanksgiving. We are reminded at thanksgiving to give thanks and count our blessings. In the spirit of thanksgiving, iCurea Foundation is thankful for our members, sponsors, donors, friends, and volunteers for their support throughout the year(s) as we work together to impact our community positively.

The countdown to Giving Tuesday is on! Giving Tuesday is on November 29th, 2022, and although this is not an official holiday, Giving Tuesday was created as a day when people give to charity, help those in need, and give back to their communities. For us at iCurea Foundation, giving back is not only about volunteering and fundraising, but also about uplifting the community around us. So, we encourage you to give thanks this season by getting involved in our activities whether it is through volunteering or donations. As we count our blessings, our foundation remembers those around us in need and strives to support our local community in different ways.

Drum Roll!!! We are getting closer to our favorite time of the year. Through the numerous donations and support that we have received from you, 570 seniors in low-income nursing homes will receive a special present in December to celebrate Christmas. Remember, some of these seniors celebrate Christmas alone with no family and the gifts they receive from the foundation brighten their day and might be the only gift they receive during Christmas.

As we countdown to sharing these gifts with seniors, the foundation will be hosting a wrapping event on December 3rd, 2022. At the event, members and volunteers come together to wrap pajamas that would be delivered to the nursing homes before Christmas. More information about this event will be posted on our social media pages in the coming weeks.

The foundation is also collecting Christmas Cards. We encourage our children to be part of giving back to seniors through the "Kindness Project". This project provides kids with the opportunity to make Christmas cards for seniors which will be delivered with the pajamas. Encouraging kids to volunteer is extremely important to us because they get to see how they make a difference and practice life skills. We want to start them young.

Ultimately, the foundation continues to seek donations as we identify needs as they arise in our local community. The donations received help to meet those needs such as the care package for the less privileged, helping single parents in need, baby and toy drive, and our yearly Christmas donations to seniors. Receiving touching messages from our local community and being able to help with their needs have been gratifying.

We will continue to provide updates on all our activities, and we encourage you to follow us online and check our social media pages regularly for more information. The foundation will have many volunteer opportunities for 2023 and anyone interested in volunteering with us can submit an application HERE

Our 2022 Plan

  • We partnered with  Gem Yard Signs to put smiles on the faces of children on their birthdays. They will display Happy Birthday Yard Signs and may provide birthday cakes to families that cannot afford to celebrate their children's birthdays. (All year round).

  • Between March and May, we were able to raise funds for our yearly Care Package Drive for the homeless which was a success. The foundation gave out 120 bags that contained hygiene products and snacks.

  • The foundation continues to support families with essential needs such as diapers/wipes/gift cards for groceries as our budget permits.

  • October- November is our Kindness Project where kids make Christmas cards for seniors in nursing homes. The foundation is currently accepting Christmas cards handmade by kids.

  • December- wrapping event, volunteers will wrap Christmas gift for seniors.

  • August- December- Fundraising for our Christmas initiative for seniors. Our goal is to donate 600 pajamas set to seniors in 6-7 Nursing Homes in Houston and surrounding cities in December.

We accept monetary donations, wipes, diapers, baby items all year round

Together, we can make 2022 an excellent year for our community and our seeds of love would be felt by those around us.
