Heya playschool folks! (So here goes vol. 2 of our February news from the Moonvine!) Blessed Imbolc. Welcome to the time of midwinter. Welcome to the season of slow emergence n' leanin' into these last few precious weeks of hibernation. Welcome to the time of returning light and reseeding darkness. May this Imbolc to Spring Equinox tide gift you with renewal. May yer emergence be guided by sound n solid reflections n' all that which you carry with you as you birth yerself out from the darkness of Winter's womb. |

There be a whole lot a~brewin' in the cauldron fer the Moon's Nest. Come Spring we will come into insurmountable opportunities in regards to the direction in which we will grow. This Spring will see the establishment of the next phase of our playschool, which I be over da moon excited about. I've been steady at work in developing The Moon's Nest School of Mischief, Magic, n' Mystery, a year round program of camps, gatherings, daylong & weekend workshops, field studies, n' more fer our growing witchlets n their families, and our wider circles. In da cauldron there be collaborations with a souper~dooper crew of teachers, guides, witches, n crafters. I be all starry just dreamin' on it all. On Saturday February 9th the Moon's Nest Playschool will be offering a field study adventure down to DoLittle Pastures, which is owned n operated by my good friends, Michelle & Eric. DoLittle Pastures is located in Lacomb, Or, just a bit over two hours drive from Portland. I'll be providing transportation in our brand new (to us) playschool shuttle as part of the field study. This field study is limited to just 4 kiddos. Please do register via email asap if you'd like to reserve one of these 4 spots fer yer kiddo. This field study is open to all kiddos aged 4 & up. Read on fer details n logistics: On the second Saturday of every month, Michelle organizes a Wild Women's Wildcrafting day, and our playschool'z been invited to join. I'll be facilitating a group offering, as will several other great teachers. Fer lots more detailed information about this very special day, check out the FB Event Page. Field Study Logistics We will rendezvous at playschool at 8:30am on Saturday morning. We will leave playschool no later than 8:45am so don't be late! We will return to playschool by 4:30pm. Field study participants are required to bring rain gear: jacket, pants, boots. A friendly potluck item to share would be appreciated. On the evening of Saturday February 9th, the witchlets of the Moon's Nest Playschool will gather fer a very special evening of mischief. We'll share dinner, an evening fire ritual, and a very cozy movie night. All kiddos who are able to spend an evening away from their parents are welcome to join us fer this sleepover. Kiddos who are less independent are also welcome to come fer just the evening activities too. Lights out n doors locked at 10pm, so any kiddos not sleeping over will need to be on their way home by then. We'll share brunch from 10~11am on sunday mornin'. Parents welcome to join us fer brunch but not required. Logistics Doors : Saturday @5pm (kiddos who joined the day's field study welcome to transition fluidly) Pickup: Sunday @ 11am Cost: $25-50/per kiddo * please do talk to me if the cost is prohibitive fer yer family* Please bring: Pillow & blankets Snacks to share Something of special importance fer the ritual altar All welcome, no pre-registration required. It's way past time to officially announce our visiting teacher's assistant and instructor, Kaan Oral. Most of y'all have had a chance to meet, or at the very least hear about this new member of our playschool family, and know that we are all very starry 'bout 'em. Look fer him to be a more regular fixture of our playschool days come Spring, as well as a core teacher & guide of the Moon's Nest School of Mischief, Magic n' Mystery. Bio & Background Kaan is a Retired Fish Biologist, Wilderness instructor, Magician, Wizard, Balloon twister, Land Tender, and Crafter. He has worked at the Tracks and Trails summer camp in Duval Washington for a couple weeks every summer teaching wilderness skills and awareness for ages 2-12. He spent a year living in the woods in a shelter he built, eating almost entirely food he gathered and harvested, using supplies found and made from the land. He is adept at shelters, bow drill fires, weaving baskets, spinning fibers, tanning hides, and weaving on a backstrap loom. He is also a nationally registered EMT-Basic and Wilderness First Responder. He can additionally be found teaching ancestral skill workshops at local Granges and Ancestral Skills Gatherings Spring through Summer. And did ya know? Playschool OMSI Day (Beginning on February 12th) Every Tuesday is now a dedicated OMSI day fer our playschool. Admission is included in yer playschool tuition. * Drop off and pick up location at OMSI's main entrance. * We have 3 more spots open fer this day fer kiddos aged 3+, so do send me an email if you'd like to add this day to yer kiddo's playschool schedule. Also, please do feel free to message me fer more details about this new change in schedule. |

Our playschool schedule will take a repose during the week of March 18~ March 22 so that we may give Last Rites to Winter, welcome the Spring Equinox, and honor Ostara. Please do mark this playschool break in yer calendars as our teaching staff will be off grid frolicking in a flower filled mountain meadow. |

Summer Teaching Position at the Moon's Nest Playschool |

Thangs be stirrin' in tha cauldron! The Moon's Nest Playschool be starting our search fer a Summer teaching partner, with opportunities to stay on with us at the start of our fourth year in the Fall of 2019. Must be able to start with a few hours a week come spring fer training and to get acquainted with our witchlets. Pay is $15/hr. We serve low income rad families, operate on an experimental sliding scale tuition model as well as offer scholarship, else pay would be so much more. *This position is more than just a job. I'm looking fer a genuine teaching partner and fellow instigator. Please be excited about smashing all the thangs n using yer praxis as an opportunity to make subversive magic with our descendants of path.* Applicants must have a knowledge base + praxis in Waldorf, Reggio, Unschooling, anti-bias and Forest Schooling principles. Basic Knowledge of attachment theory, Continuum Concept, attachment parenting, and early childhood development required. We are a gender neutral educational environment so we are looking for a teacher who has good familiarity and practice around gender neutrality. Please be gender queer, gender neutral, er gender fluid in your own identity as well. Our magical practices are rooted in the Reclaiming Tradition, but welcome practicing witches from a wide variety of traditions. Please have a magical practice to share with our witchlets based in an apprenticeship style of learning. Also, feel free to help me cast this net and share with folks you think might be a good candidate fer us. We are opening up pre registration and waiting lists for our 2019-2020 playschool year! If you are a returning family please use this form to confirm that you'll be returning for our next year together. We'd sure love to have ya back! Please do be mindful that I need all folks intending to join us for 2019-2020 to fill out this form, even if yer a returning family. This will help me know what i'm getting myself into for this next year and how to plan for it all. If yer family is new to the Moon's Nest and is looking to join us for yer first year, this is also the form to use to let us know. Once I receive yer intent to enroll notification, I'll follow up with an email and an invite to join me for tea so we can meet and greet. At that point, if it's a good fit, I'll send you the registration forms. Once i get those back, yer spot for 2019-2020 will be confirmed.
