Colors of Home Throughout my art practice I have naturally gravitated to the same color palette…in my paintings, in my home, in how I dress…these colors are who I am. There have been times when I’ve worked on changing the colors up, but they always seem to find me and seep into whatever I’m creating. I’ve learned to embrace them, use them in their deep dark shades as well as the light and dreamy versions…they are my colors of home. |

Okay, I know I'm a little early on this...but I am super excited about being one of the artists in the Gallery 21 exhibition line up this year...and it's coming up quicker than I think, so I thought I'd get a little head start on it. I visited the gallery yesterday, just to get the lay of the land and soak up a little of the Spanish Village vibe...I love visiting Balboa Park and when I do I wonder why I don't do it more often! The gallery is big and I have it all to myself for two weeks...what luxury! I already have a show title, My Colors Of Home, and I got my hands on the floor plans and can start working out what art I'll be showing. This speaks not only to the artist in me, but I love a floorpan and setting the scene...a call back to my earlier display/visual presentation days. |

Not to worry...I'll be keeping you updated on the show and when I'm ready to open the doors...until then hit the link below and check out some of the other artists that will be exhibiting in the gallery this year. |

Blue Jean Babies Meanwhile...while doing a little spring cleaning on my computer, and in my studio...I came across a few videos I had recorded in one of my online classes a while back. I was working on a series of blue jean jackets (who doesn't love that staple in our wardrobe) and I never went any further with the series, so I added them into my Mixed Media Florals on my website. I always enjoyed these pieces, making them, the subject matter, having them in my studio...though I've never really had them out there to show. So if you want a closer look and a little info...hit the link below and head half way down the page to check these babies out. |

And... if you want to see one of these pieces come together...its over on my YouTube... just hit the photo below to go there. |

Lastly...if you'd like to get a dose of inspiration...I have someone to share with you. Actually I got it from a share on Austin Kleon's (Steal Like An Artist author) post this week. After reading it I'm ready to buy a farm in upstate New York, get some sheep, plant a garden, go back to school and be more curious and playful! Click on the link below and read the article...I just love Isabella and even more now. |
