4. Essential Bundle

NOTES: All contests are run on an individual basis with score/points logged in our app, as we will only be permitting one student (junior siblings may be excepted)  inside the Lab at any given time, and our waiting room with display is currently used for drop-off/pick-up only.

The Lab, will continue to run as a Private facility with Covid Protocols strictly observed.

We do have Verify Ontario for Covid vaccination status in accordance with the province of Ontario health protocols.

Golf and Performance has successfully conducted remote lessons via Facetime, Skype etc for over 7 years and most of our programs can be adapted.

(1) Junior Academy Winter Semester

Scheduled to start on Sunday, January 9 th, 2022, our Director of Golf, Coach Franz has implemented, for the safety of our students and Coaches, the following:

1. Postponing the start for 4 weeks until the weekend of February 6th (then re-evaluating)

2. Your Juniors may instead opt to wait until the start of the Spring/Summer semester in 10 weeks (approximately)

3. All Academy Juniors in the interim may book a 30-minute private lesson at the Lab where only the student in the lesson is allowed inside with full Covid screening protocols in place (we had implemented parent drop off protocols at the Lab a few weeks ago)

4. Some of our students have always done lessons remotely (via Facetime, Skype etc) For those Juniors with a practice facility at home (hitting net, putting mat or full simulator)  we will be extending this methodology to you as well. This will include live remote lessons and video analysis

((Please email Coach Franz directly at golfandperformance@gmail.com in regards to any of the above))

As the Province of Ontario announces further changes or measures, we will of course be announcing measures to keep in compliance. The safety of our students has always been a primary priority and we will continue to listen to your concerns/suggestions.

(2) Putting Contest

Start 2022 off right by joining our putting contest, held in our Private facility at the Lab!

Until February 14, 2022, anyone playing a round of golf or taking a lesson at the Lab can participate using our Android or iOS app to post your score. You can enter each time you take a lesson, or play a round of golf at the Lab, and your best score counts. The top five placeholders will win the following prizes;

First place wins a comprehensive assessment swing video analysis using Flightscope and Hack Motion (value: $179);

Second place wins an assessment with Coach Sandy from Golf Fitness (value: $149);

Third place wins three 1-hour practice sessions (value: $89);

Fourth place wins a golf wedge (for back pain relief) from Golf Fitness (value: $79);

Fifth place wins 1 hour mat time at Metro Golf Sportsplex (value: $40)

(3) Closest to the Pin contest

In February at the Lab, we will be bringing back our Closest to the Pin contest!

Any student, parent of a student, or person playing a round of golf will get the chance to hit 3 shots on a pre-determined hole. The closest shot will count when you come for a lesson or to play your round (1 entry per person for the month).

NOTE: We have used Pebble Beach pictured in prior contests!

(6) Mastery tip - low point control

Major Premise:: A fat and a thin shot are identical twins.

Minor Premise: The ball position relative to the swing arc is incorrect.

Rubbish Premise: We should all swing exactly the same as all swings should have defined parameters to look similar

(there are actually 5 major swing patterns in swing design architecture).

Concept realization: What’s really happening is that the bottom of the swing is too far

behind or too far in front of the golf ball. There can be several swing mechanic defects to cause this. Whatever the cause, the effect is that we have to move the bottom of the swing path closer to the ball. Everyone assumes we need to make corrections in the downswing to neutralize the common causes, but often it starts with your setup. As most of my students have heard me say, 80% of your shot starts with your setup. It's also often been said, not by me, you don't hit the ball with your backswing so it's immaterial- that fits in the RUBBISH category. If I get your backswing in a relatively sound position from your setup, barring physical limitations, I have you prepped for success in making correct contact. Don't complicate things this year, come in and get a plan for success!

We measure, we don't guess.

Warm regards for 2022,

Coach Franz

"So, are we saying that with practice we can just breathe away our anger and frustration following a bad shot? And the answer is not really, since in our moments of intense negative emotion the breathing is not going to immediately help that much.   Instead, the time to breathe in feelings of calmness is proactively before we ever get really fired up (we use the breath to keep our emotions stable long before we’re out of control). Which becomes the last thing that someone who is pretty far down the rabbit hole and already in a bad mood remotely wants to hear."
