Howdy Salado Montessori Community!

With just a little over a week left of school, we are looking forward to our summer work.  Here at the school, that means lots of preparation for the next school year, including improvements to the classroom as well as lots of training, fundraising, and a chance for our wonderful Director to focus on her Director work.

If you have already given to our Annual Fund, THANK YOU!   Money raised in the next few months will help cover costs over the summer while we prepare for a great Fall semester.  If you haven't yet given, we would be so thankful for any amount you feel compelled to give.  Please reach out to Alissa to find out how to set up a monthly donation or you can click the link and make a one-time contribution.  Again, we are so deeply grateful for each gift we receive and thank you in advance for helping us continue to provide high-quality Montessori education for Bell County!

Montessori Math

"You know your four year old loves their classroom and their work.  You know their teachers are guiding them to learn early math skills.  But what, exactly, does that look like?  And how does it change as they get older?  Montessori math materials are nothing short of amazing.  While they look quite different than what we used growing up (pencil and paper?) there are intentional reasons for these methods.  Read on to learn more..."

Summer Volunteer Opportunities

We have several projects, including playground improvements, we'd LOVE your help with!  If you have some time and interest in helping improve our school over the summer, email us at: Alissa@SaladoMontessori.com.

Montessori at Home

Montessori children thrive in our environment because it is set up for them to succeed.  This summer, we want you to have the resources you need to help that success continue.  There are a wealth of great ideas online with just a quick Google search of "Montessori at Home".  Here are a few excerpts from one of our recent favorites:

"Organization, simplicity, and practical life activities are at the very core of Montessori education - without them, the materials and other activities are meaningless."

"Take time to observe your child at home, without interfering in her activity. Is she able to maintain a reasonable level of order? Are materials put away in their designated places? If not, you, as parent—like the Montessori teacher—should consider the child’s environment: Are there too many choices? Are the choices available no longer interesting or challenging? Is it difficult for your child to put items away properly?

The ability to focus and concentrate is an important skill for learning. You can help develop your child’s concentration at any age by observing what sparks her interest and providing opportunities to pursue it. Set her up with the materials to explore what has piqued her interest, and let her work without interruption until she is ready to choose another activity."

As always, thanks for reading, and have a wonderful day!
