Letter from the President

Happy New Year Blessings,

Hoping that you each enjoyed a memorable Christmas season with your family and friends. I want to take this opportunity to thank Angela Vogeli and her husband Michael for hosting our Annual Christmas Party at their beautifully decorated and welcoming home on Dec. 12. We had a wonderful turnout and a great time of fellowship.

A big thank you to Teri Gordon, First VP, for managing and arranging the Christmas gift deliveries to the religious sisters at both the Sisters of Mercy Convent and the St. Cecilia Motherhouse. As usual, both the Sisters and our members had a special morning together.

For those who missed our November meeting, Sister Anna Laura, the new principal at St. Cecilia Academy presented “Faith Must Become Culture.” It was a blessing having her with us along with Sister Anne Catherine, Director of Advancement for SCA. We took the opportunity to present their $12,000 award check from our Luncheon proceeds. Checks were then mailed to Father Ryan High School and Pope JPII High School for the same amount to their development offices.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • Our regular monthly meeting location has been changed to Richland Country Club effective this month. The Vanderbilt University Club closed Dec. 31. Our timeline for the meetings will remain the same beginning with a Registration/Reception from 5:30-6:00 PM and dinner served at 6:00 PM.
  • If you have ideas for upcoming program speakers, please contact Lisa O’Neill Sullivan at lonvet@bellsouth.net.
  • The Business Expo has been confirmed for March 20, 2019 at the Cathedral Fleming Center.

I look forward to beginning a new year with all of you and working with Teri Gordon to transition to a new board of the NCBWL. I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know Teri better these last two years. She will be an outstanding leader for us as she assumes the president role in April.

Gratefully,

Debbie Lassiter

Community Outreach Project for January

We will be collecting items for the Hope Clinic for Women at our January meeting. They are working with moms on self-care as the majority of the women have suffered from some sort of trauma, whether in childhood or adulthood. Their goal is to teach them a variety of methods for self-care prior to the baby being born and even after. So they are requesting items which are helpful in guiding the moms through meditation and relaxation.

  • Lotion sets (aromatherapy)
  • Candles
  • Journals
  • House shoes
  • Oil Burners/oil
  • Face mask for sleeping
  • Therapy balls/clay (small hand therapy balls)
  • Anything Motivational that will lift them up and motivate them.
