EYPiC aims to improve the engagement of young people in consultations and research.

In the digital age, engaging with young people requires innovative approaches that meet them where they are - online.

This newsletter focusses on key digital tools and platforms that can be used to support engagement of young people in consultations, ensuring their voices are heard and valued.

Do you have any tips on how to effectively use digital tools for outreach? Get in touch with us via LinkedIn, X or email us: eypic.consult@gmail.com

Key digital tools:

Social Media Platforms: Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat are where young people spend much of their time. Leveraging these platforms for outreach can increase visibility and engagement. Consider using polls, stories, and live sessions to create interactive opportunities for participation.

Online Surveys and Polls: Tools like Google Forms, SurveyMonkey, and Mentimeter are excellent for gathering feedback quickly and efficiently. These tools allow for anonymous participation, which can encourage more honest and open responses.

Virtual Collaboration Platforms: Platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Slack facilitate virtual meetings and discussion sessions. They are particularly useful for maintaining engagement over longer projects or campaigns, and can help to engage young people in a group.

Gamification: Incorporating game-like elements into your digital engagement strategies can make participation more fun and engaging. Platforms like Kahoot and Classcraft allow you to create quizzes, challenges, and other interactive experiences.

What is EYPiC?

EYPiC is a collaborative project that aims to transform how public consultations are conducted by actively involving young people aged 18-25. Originating from a collaborative effort among policymakers and young people, the project, which is currently funded by the Rees Jeffery’s Road Fund, seeks to address the gap in participation of young people in public decision-making processes.

We have 3 key objectives:

  • Increase the engagement of young people in public consultations.

  • Update and improve current consultation practices.

  • Evaluate the practicality and effectiveness of new approaches.

Involving young people in public decision-making is crucial for creating policies that are truly inclusive and reflective of diverse community needs.
