A Journey Through The Chakras - Second Chakra

Sacral Chakra

“How great are we with change? Are we really conscious and accepting of conditions
mutating and quite rapidly around us? I am a student of Vedic studies of which Vedic
astrology is one of my favourite subjects. I learned that the 8th house of my birth chart falls
into Pisces so I have a very philosophical view on sudden changes and Yoga helped me to
recognize my strengths and my beauty. My purpose for June is that we can continue to work
(love) the chakra that helps us to set ourselves free, free from our perception of emotional
attachment. So that we can act with neutrality and heart centred”.

Also, I am very excited that I have created an online Open Meditation Group where you are free to join in and invite friends. I'll be sharing different meditations from different traditions to support our individual growth and our community".
Much Love, Ana x.

The Sacral Chakra ~ Svadhisthana ~Center of Emotional body

How do I feel about myself?

It is here that we store energy (emotions which we perceive as negative) that we found difficult to process from birth to the early twenties.

Emotions ~ Feelings ~ Relationships ~ Relating ~ Expression of Sexuality, Sensuality ~ Creativity ~ Abundance ~ Fluidity ~ Versatility.

Name in Sanskrit: Svadhisthana “dwelling place of the self”

Location: 2” below the navel

Colour: Orange

Element: Water

Sense: taste

Sound: Vam

Planet: Venus

When blocked or imbalanced:

~ negative emotions like anger, jealousy, resentment create hurtful behaviours affecting our health through the liver, pancreas, spleen and all glands that regulate the metabolism, digestion and immunity.

~ Shallow relationships

~Lower back pain

~ Addictive/compulsive behaviours

~ sexual dysfunction

~ emotional instability

~ reproductive issues

~ Sense of lack (financial difficulties, as Money flow, relates with element water)

When balanced:

~ Flow and expression of creativity

~ Playfulness, sensuality and freedom in sexuality

~ Passion

~ Willingness to share

~ Mature and genuine relationships

~ Money flows

~ Patience

~a great sense of taste

How to Balance Your Second Chakra

  • Consciously eat naturally orange colour food, such as carrots, butternut squash, mangos, sweet potato & food that will balance and centre you like seeds & nuts.
  • Use crystals that support this energy, like tiger’s eye, carnelian, orange moonstone, amber, sunstone and goldstone
  • Strengthen your relationship with the Moon, became aware of the rhythms of the moon by journaling or meditating in the different phases of the Moon, noticing when and how are we affected by it (and yes drink moon water, instructional video on my youtube channel Ana Alves Smyth)
  • Use essential oils including cedar, cardamom, eucalyptus, chamomile, spearmint, patchouli, ylang-ylang, rose, or clary sage.
  • Reconnect with Water by going for a swim, sitting near the sea or flowing stream, or taking a relaxing bath. Watsu, a form of therapy in which a person is gently held and guided in water, can also provide a powerful ritual for sacral healing.
  • With Kundalini Yoga, with sets that will activate and balance the sacral chakra or that will increase the energy flow in your body, like with this video below where I demonstrate the sun salutation. Enjoy x.

Kundalini Zoom Yoga Testimonial

I have been practising yoga off and on for a few years and have been trying to find a class that wasn't just about exercise, but more authentic like I had seen on my travels in India. Then I met Ana and have never looked back.

Ana's classes capture the real essence of yoga, unity of mind body and soul.

I always leave her classes feeling calm and relaxed, yet energised and inspired. With breathing exercises stretching postures and meditation, I have really learned how to bring positivity and balance into my life.

Ana is a wonderful teacher and I fully recommend her classes and thank her for her inspiration and gentle guidance over the last few years. Namaste.
